                    Thump thump thump
My heart still beats
Slow and erratic
As the pain drives across my chest
Then down my arm.
There’s a cold and clammy feeling oozing out of me
And I can hardly breath
While the nurses move in orchestrated panic
I can’t understand a word they say
But they have all gathered around me.
And I can see them thru a hazy mist
But their speech is still foreign to me
I can feel the sting of needles as my vision start’s to clear
And the warm comfort of painlessness is running thru my arm
It’s like the angels are waiting here for me.
Are you still feeling any pain
Is the last thing I remember, the angels saying to me
On a scale from one to ten can you tell us how you feel.
Thump thump-thump-thump-thump-thump
Slow and lethargic every movement brings the pain
But I have to get back up on my feet
And touch the sun again.
Another shot of morphine and the pain begins to fade away
On a scale from one to ten can you tell us how you feel
But I can hardly understand a word they say
As the feeling starts to fade.
