Went to a place on Kennedy road in Scarborough to get some stuff framed.
Decent prices, but I cannot remember the name.
Also a place in Centerpoint mall at yonge and steeles. Heard they are really good, don't know what kinda prices they offer.
    It's a hopeless... situation

I'm actually in Burlington, hopefully gonna do it myself if at all possible..

I like IKEA frames but they are never the right size, and the matting sucks :?

I have recently framed 3 posters, with matting for $35. $10 per frame and $5 for a can of spray paint.
Put the measurements of your posters on a list, and scour the second-hand stores. Don't worry about the frame colour, but look at matte colours, and the quality of the glass. Metal or wood frame, it doesn't matter. If there's chips or scratches on the frame, don't worry about them. Take your "new" frame home, take it apart.
Clean and spray paint the frame whatever colour you choose (I used black because it matches everything). Clean the glass, centre your poster in the matte, put the bastard back together, stand back and nod approvingly at your mad skills.
    I'll post some pics soon.

dude your hilarious, thats EXACTLY what i have been doing over the last few days hahaha but i just haven't been able to find a frame big enough... that said... the only issue i find is even if you do find a great frame, the matte is never the right size and it costs 40 to get a matte cut and thats robbery

It can happen! Don't lose hope! The right matte size is definitely the hardest part of the find. If you think your skills are mad enough, you could always buy a matte cutter (basically an angled knife) and resize the matte-hole… I haven't been brave enough to try this yet, but I'm working up to it. I've got 2 dozen posters left to frame!

I'd also be interested of any Toronto advice...I'm sick of having my prints rolled up in their tubes.

If you want it done well, and want to do it on the cheap, AmericanFrame.com is your best option. Not sure what the cost to ship to Toronto would be, but they are VERY affordable. Otherwise, befriend a local business frame artisan and they'll reward you with very fair prices.

And as for those of you continuing to keep your posters in their shipping tubes. That won't serve them well beyond a very short period of time. Buy a broadart box and call it a day.

not sure if you have ikea in canada ? but i frame mine using these -

    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70167464/

i then buy some colored (to suit the tones of the poster),thick, art card to act as the matting/backing , costs around £10 altogether and i am happy with the results

$40 to cut a mat?? I certainly hope whichever frame shop quotes that is using narwhal skin mats cut by unicorn sharpened blades...

I get mats cut at a big box art supply store (like Michaels or Hobby Lobby). It's a few bucks for the mat and a few bucks for the cutting. All told under $10 and done while I wait.
