Is there still a SUB-POP store down near the wharf/Pike Place Markets? I haven't been to Seattle since 1999. One thing I did though was to go to the army surplus store in the city and pick up one fo those Army issue brown shirts that Ed used to wear in the 90's.

^^^ this!!! Seattle is a beautiful city, but especially in July and August. You could go a bit out of the city and get over to the Hoh rainforest, go to one of several mountains in the area, hiking/climbing/outdoor stuff is great right now, go to Alki Beach in West Seattle (not on a weekend though - traffic is nuts!) Have fun!
True. Do a search of the forum for Seattle. There are tons of threads with advice on places to go for all tastes.
If I could, I would live in Seattle. I love it.

Go for breakfast at the old bar/restaurant?? in there. Can't remember what it's called, but it looks like a place loggers and drunks would have gone in 1918. So you can't miss it. One of the oldest existing eating establishments in the city apparently. It's a hole, but really cool. :)

OP - if you're into him, Jimi Hendrix's grave was something cool to visit too.

    are you thinking about Lowell's?

    breakfast there is AMAZING.

Hmm. I'm not sure... It does face that way over the water. But I believe it was older than est. 1957 ... it's all wood and really old and rough looking, and the staff is fairly crass and they start serving shitty beer at 9am, and there is a permanent drunk man at the bar. Does that sound like Lowell's? But the breakfast was really really good... but in that greasy hangover kind of way, not in that eggs benny and mimosa kind of way. I doubt it's the same place because I can't imagine they'd have the words "almost classy" attached to their website (if they even have one)! ... OP, you may want to just go to Lowell's after reading my description vs that place.
No, but seriously, I wonder if I am thinking of Lowell's?? Now I want to go down there and check! ... Was I just so hungover each time I went there that it seemed rougher than it really is? ... Possible I guess. :fp:

don't forget that Jimmi Henderix's grave is about 20 min south and he lays very close to Bruce Lee. Also eat Dicks when in Seattle.

    :lol::lol:

    Here's my list:
I wish I could at least do a drive-by of 10C offices. At least see what it looks from the outside, cause I'm quite sure they're not open for tours.
Whatever garden it is that Soundgarden got their name from.
The house where Cobain killed himself. (FWIW, the greenhouse was demolished in the mid 90s.)
    Jimi's grave
    Easy Street Records
The Off-Ramp Cafe. (I think it's still around, just a different name.)

It would be damn tempting to drive by Eddie's house, but you gotta respect that one and resist.

FWIW, I think I read somewhere that Cobain's house is not far from Bill Gates' house.

There's a lot of them. Check out the second location of the original at Pike Place.

I remember my wife and I going in there a couple of years back, and they fucked up BOTH of our drinks! You'd think that the flagship Starbucks could've gotten it right. :fp:

I was not impressed with the EMP...ugly building first of all...and well im from cleveland and the rock and roll hall of fame is better by far.

I don't know if the house is the same, but there's a small park nearby where fans have left messages for him all over the benches, and you'll sometimes have flowers and candles burning...it's a very pretty place for remembrance.

Geez I loved Seattle. If go back there in a heartbeat. Beautiful city. Nice vibe. I'll have a pikes pale ale and a burger thanks. Despite coming from the other side of the world, I resisted any pj sites out of respect (ie HQ)... Even though we drove past it on the way to and from seatac
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.
  • Absolutely fantastic.
I'm going to Seattle for the third time next year - I've seen a lot of the places allready but I'm going to copy/paste this whole thread into my Seattle holiday itinerary :)

Jimi is buried at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton

Bruce and Brandon Lee are buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Seattle (Capitol Hill)

  • I always actually tell people to not go to Kurts house. Its not like he or anyone associated with him lives there anyway and the garage has been demolished. Sure there is a park next to it, with one tree and one bench that has stuff carved in it (not candles or flowers or anything like that anymore, contrary to popular belief) that Courtney APPARENTLY (key word) spread some of his ashes at but really its not worth it. Well, it is a nice drive along lake washington blvd but that's it.

Honestly there is so many nice spots to explore in Seattle that aren't Pearl Jam related that you would be missing out on if you focused your energy on only PJ sites.

Take the underground tour in Pioneer Square, or explore Capitol Hill, or drive out to Alki or explore the Junction in West Seattle, or explore the U district, drive out to Renton and go to Jimi's grave.

Also, please everyone, do the entire human race a favor and dont try to find, or go to anyone in the bands or related to the bands houses. I mean anyone.

Yeah, the underground tour is cool. Just be sure to do the adult version of it. But a lot of history, and I love history so am a sucker for anythingike that. The Gold Rush museum is also pretty good if you're into that kind of thing. I think i happily spent a couple hours in there, and it's not very big.

Yeah some great info in the Underground tour about the history of the city, youll never again wander around Pioneer Square wondering what the fuck that purple glass in the sidewalks is.
