And so did Ed... After the show...
Eddie was doing exactly this at Manchester II, could see him clearly (from Block 102) "hiding" behind Boom!

Can confirm that one if you were on Mike's side..
Yep, Mike side...
But alot of them just said no :P
Hehe, thanks, but no thanks... :nono:
Boom does not sing, so it's acceptable!
Eddies voice is really getting trashed. It is actually ridiculous at this point that he is STILL smoking. On the isle of wight songs that were televised last week, I thought he sounded awful on Blood, which is obviously a hard song to sing, he even said this back in 2003.... But he looked outright pained singing Alive and Ledbetter.... Songs that are not difficult vocally.
It's really sad.

yeah, true. and they will play even flow as long as eddie smokes
doesn't he get to be human?

That being said even though he is touring in Europe. Smoking is a freedom. Ed has the right to exercise his right to smoke whatever he chooses. I personally think this is one thing that should not be taken away from anyone!!!
As far as his voice goes. His voice is still amazing and after 20+ years singing and living the so called "rock & roll lifestyle" Eddie Vedder still has one of the best if not the best voices in the industry.
Give him a break and let him enjoy his right to do whatever he wishes!!!
PEACE!!!

I agree that it looked like he was struggling during Alive. Eddie's voice is so fantastic and one of the main reasons I love this band so much..I really wish he would take care of his gift. Of course he can do whatever he wants, but we don't want him to damage his voice and his health.
Exactly how I feel, though I will never complain!
Nicotine is a horrible addiction -- totally speaking from experience. I'm sure these nagging little threads are annoying to all the smokers, and I sympathize with all those who want to quit but struggle. I take each day as it comes and consider every non-smoking minute a major triumph.
Changes in the voice can be attributed to many factors... age being a main one, your comparing a voice over 20 years and vocal chords that belt out harsh notes, the constant flying from place to place won't help either (the air in planes is dry and recycled and carries multiple airborne bugs)... Sleep, or lack of, will also have an effect and most of us on here probably needed less sleep 20 years ago than we do now (guessing that most of us are 35+)...
Now what's this mention of ciggies Mike's side at Manchester 2? I never saw any!! lol
that they have a law proposed to not allow smoking in our parks.
http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/atlanta ... 72694.html
this would include Piedmont Park where Midtown Music and PJ is set to play.
And also alot of them drink a lot.
I think alcohol is more worse then nicotine...
well, in front of us, stone's side (yeah yeah, i know, mike side is the best), people were smoking weed. they passed it all through the audience... i have no idea where it came from, but someone had joints inside the building in front of the stage.
currently i am not smoking... due to a cold...
