I've seen Incubus at Hollywood Bowl, and that was incredible because we had close box seating, and i've seen Gaga (don't ask) at Staples, and while we had shit seats, it was incredible too. I can't really say i've had a bad concert experience in LA, in all honesty.

I saw them @ the Greek Theatre in 2000, Irvine Meadows in 2003(too far to actually be considered LA), Forum 2006, and Gibson 2009. Gibson is great, bit Forum holds more fans..and is better for all of us getting tix. Staples sound sucks..refuse to see a show there..just like the Pond in Anaheim.
Surprised to see LA represented on this board..we should have a summer meet up..at a bar with Jukebox loaded with PJ tunes...a good beer on tap...Bridge Benefit 1994, San Francisco 1995, San Diego 1995 1 & 2, Missoula 1998, Los Angeles 2000, San Diego 2000, Eddie Vedder/Beck 2/26/2002, Santa Barbara 2003, Irvine 2003, San Diego 2003, Vancouver 2005, Gorge 2005, San Diego 2006, Los Angeles 2006 1 & 2, Santa Barbara 2006, Eddie Vedder 4/10/08, Eddie Vedder 4/12/08, Eddie Vedder 4/15/08, 7/12/2008, SF 8/28/09, LA 9/30/09, LA 10/1/09, LA 10/06/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09, Eddie Vedder 7/6/2011, Eddie Vedder 7/8/2011, PJ20 9/3/2011, PJ20 9/4/2011, Vancouver 9/25/2011, San Diego 11/21/13, LA 11/24/13, Ohana 9/25/21, Ohana 9/26/21, Ohana 10/1/21, EV 2/17/22, LA Forum 5/6/22, LA Forum 5/7/22, EV 10/1/22, EV 9/30/230 -

They should play the Staples Center or the Pond.
No they shouldn't. Both these places suck and sound like crap. Greek, Forum, Bowl or even the dumpy old Sports Arena would be way better.0 -
The Gibson Amphitheater again.

Jeff hates Staple Center, they will never play there. I say play 5 nights at the greek, or 2 nights at the Forum, 4 nights at the Gibson would be sweet too9/4/98, 8/4/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/15/03, 4/16/03, 4/19/03, 4/25/03, 4/26/03, 4/28/03, 4/29/03, 4/30/03, 7/8/03, 7/9/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 10/6/04, 9/1/05, 9/2/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/27/06, 5/28/06, 5/30/06, 6/1/06, 6/3/06, 8/5/07, 6/11/08, 6/12/08, 6/14/08, 6/16/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/080

Soon, I hope.
I live 2 hours away from LA now.
And I want to meet fans from the So Cal area.I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.0 -

My guess is the L.A. Sports Arena......Goldenvoice (local promoter) has started doing shows there again.
My first PJ show was at that venue....12/30/91....opened for RHCP and Nirvana!0 -
Forum's being remodeled after being bought by MSG. Haven't heard any progress reports on it so I'm not sure if it'd be ready for a fall tour.0

I have a friend who's cousin has a box seats at Staples and he goes to games all the time. The boxes are good for all events. I'm seeing the Lakers this Friday with him. (don't make me cry by mentioning their record ).
I'm excited to see the vantage point for possible concert tickets. Given the new lotto system, there's no guaranty of getting fan club seats.
Apparently, if the view in the box is obstructed than the box owner gets floor right up front.
Even though Staples wouldn't be the best I won't be too disappointed. I thought the Chili Peppers sounded OK when I saw them there last year.0 -

I don't think the Bowl's setup works well for rock concerts. The nostalgia of saying, "We're playing the Hollywood Bowl" is really the only reason a rock band plays there (i.e. System of a Down playing there this summer). With the boxes and such, you're kind of distanced from one another vs. an arena where people are more packed in. In my opinion, I feel like there's more energy with an arena show vs. the Bowl.
For purely selfish reasons, I hope they at least play a Live Nation venue as I'll have several $40 credits built up through the LN app by the time summer rolls around and need some shows to use them towards! In that case, I'd most likely hope for a return to Gibson, or a series of smaller shows elsewhere. Hey, Soundgarden recently did three nights at the Wiltern!0 -

I saw Sonic Youth and Pavement at the Bowl a few years ago and it was pretty sweet. The BYOB thing was pretty sweet as well. (Not sweet was the drunken stumble down the long hill walk out of the bowl after!)The love he receives is the love that is saved0
