I understand free enterprise and blah blah blah blah blah. I don't care that Pearl Jam is playing a sponsored event. Who doesn't play one anymore? What I don't get is how I can go on and pay 150 dollars now or 175 or 250 for the same ticket that cost someone 99 dollars earlier. It's from the same site. It'll be easier to wait a day or two before the concert and buy a one day ticket for 80-90 dollars especially if Jay Z plays the second night and Pearl Jam plays the first night. I figure all of the pearl jam fans will sell their second night ticket to the Jay Z fans and vice versa. It's just assinine. Seriously, there is no reason to try and get tickets through ticketmaster anymore. You pull up only the worst seats because everything else is gobbled up by ticket sites within 30 seconds and still have to pay assinine prices. I'd rather just pay assinine prices which aren't that much more than the original on a ticketmaster owned stubhub or other scam site and be able to actually pick a good seat. Sorry just venting. It's crazy.

as said a thousand times already this is very common with festivals go look at deluna or any other festival right now theres always tiered pricing starts off low for early birds a certain amount is allocated for that then once that amount is gone it goes up and so on

every festival does this. Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza have pre-sales at their lowest tiers sometimes weeks after that year's show ends. It is in those cases commitment. You are buying tickets dirt cheap for a festival that you hope delivers a lineup that you like because it's over a half of a year that they finally announce some of the acts. It suck, but as iamloco said, it is no different than any festival

Why do you figure that? That's an awful lot of assuming. I plan to be at both days if work allows.

Labor day weekend. I don't think it's that much of an assumption and I will retire back to my message board hibernation. I'm pretty sure that the big names have been announced. However, waht I don't get the most about these tickets is the lack of actual info that we had before these tickets even went on sale. Little things like which night exactly the headliners are playing, how the stages will be set up, how people who don't pay won't be able to literally stand 10 feet from the paying area and listen or sit up on one of the apartment balconies and listen. I've been down there to see events ie fireworks(Hall and Oates you little devils) live aid, etc. and I've never been to a paid event. A little info would have been nice. Just a little.

Yeah this is par for the course with festivals. My hubby's a concert promoter and he does the same thing. It's just a way for them to get a better handle on how many tickets will be bought.

not ok with it but its the way things are with festivals so if ur ok with going to festivals then its something you have to deal with nothing is going to change

And honestly it's not just festivals that do this either. It's a marketing tactic. Whether you're okay with it or not, happens everywhere. My company hosts an annual convention every year and we have early bird, regular, and late registration pricing - as do most tradeshows or other like events. It's business, which, whether you like it or not, includes music. Now that artists have to count on getting paid from touring as opposed to record sales, the game has changed.

I guess I'm in. I think it's awesome the way these tickets are priced. Seems fair to me. Great idea.

I don't think "everyone does it" makes any sense whatsoever. It doesn't change the fact that it's a blatant money-grabbing tactic. It's artificial market manipulation.

"Festival A did it, and Festival B did it... so it's no big deal"

    Sorry, don't buy it.

If every time you bought a ticket for something, some suit would go out and punch a kitten in the throat, would it be ok if every festival did it anyway?

Hyperbole, yes, but just shows, something that's shitty is still shitty regardless of how many shitty people are doing it.

I have been into the whole concert going thing since 1980...
    It gets crazier every year..
it is not only stupid (to us), & with a lousy grouping of acts,
But smart managing to cover 2 different scenes...gotta give it to brother jay-Z..making ca$h money..
P.S if it is Sat I will F'in be there for sure..Bruce is on Sunday night:)
