    Can't beat the machine.

Hopefully his message will be kept close by all the young people who have rallied around him.

he should have and should run as an independent ... he's simply not a republican in so much as kucinich is not a democrat ... not the way these parties have been the last few decades ... it's noble for him to want to change the party from the inside out ... but that's like trying to make taco bell into a health conscious food joint ... he should run as an indie and spent his money getting himself in the televised presidential debates ...

I’m wondering what Ron Paul got out of this deal. Hell his supporters just booed Romney’s son off stage and now Paul’s backing off. I’m confused.

    he didn't drop out.

read his letter your self and you will see.

    this does two things.

The state conventions are where delegates are at, he said they will still be campaigning at state conventions. No where in his statement did it say suspend the campaign.

There has always been a delegate strategy, and this just further proves it. Can't play the game like a millionaire if yuou don't have the funds. That is how other campaigns end up with debts they cannot pay. Paul won't do that, and he won't foolishly spend money in losing states. He said he wouldn't campaign in florida, that didn't mean he dropped out of the race.

Funny that the only thing the MSM reports on is his dropping out, and they cannot even get that right...If you read the papers and watched the national news you wouldn't even have known he was running. Still in and still accumulating delegates.

Yeh, I know. That's why I used a "?". All the stories - all over the nation are using the words "out".

But, regardless, it sucks he can't compete in these states financially. I hope he pulls off a miracle, but it's unlikely.

I'm wondering why he even announced this though.

    the message that sparked this

As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.

This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.

Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.

I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved - become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.

    For Liberty,

    Ron Paul

If I had to guess, it would be to get other supporters (Romney) to be even less dedicated than they are. Lower turn out at state conventions is a good thing for the Paul campaign. I have MN this weekend, I will let you know what I see, but we won't give up, and Paul hasn't either. He just isn't going to throw money at huge states like Texas and California when his numbers just aren't going to make a dent. If you or anyone else look into how meticulously he records his campaign expenses you will know what I am talking about in terms of his fiscal sanity. He has basically won enough states to get nominated from the floor at the convention and that is all that matters right now.
There are two kinds of speeches a person can give at the convention...one that is heavily edited, and one that is a platform speech aimed at securing the nomination. Which one do you think he wants to give?
He can't compete against a monster like Romney with funds...but if people THINK the race is over, I am betting that less people are willing to show up for Romney...but that could be wishful thinking...An election between Goldman Sachs and Goldman Sachs II is a sad choice for America if you ask me.

also, I was replying to the others with my comments, I assumed by the question mark that you got it ;)

I read that before I posted, but, I’m still wondering what he gets out of this.

i think there are two sentiments ...

    1. some feel he can still win at the RNC
    2. hopefully, he can make inroads in policy within the GOP ... he may not get the nomination but maybe they will give him a place within the establishment to affect some form of change

damn that sucks. i wanted him to continue on to the convention. Its clear he really disagrees with much of what the republican party, and democrat party stand for and it would have been interesting to see him at the convention, with the 2nd most delegates and the debate that would have ensued.

I hope he continues to campaign. I seriously would consider voting for the guy. i may have to write in his name on election day.

As far as im concerned he was the only legitimate candidate running on either side.

He is still running, just not going to put his dollars towards the primaries anymore. The plan, as it has been from the beginning, is to focus on the delegates until the game is officially over.

She is so annoying to watch and it has nothing to do with her politics. It's kinda like Greta is annoying to watch and it has nothing to do with her politics.
