Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. There are segments that I don't enjoy and I just change the channel. Something that other people can't seem to do.

wow from the King of All Media to lumped in with that group? i'd say that's a pretty good indication itself of how far he has fallen.

This really just shows that you don't know who's doing reality TV these days.

true but almost 100% of the time if you are doing reality TV you are a has been. the evidence is pretty clear of that. the above examples really don't disprove that.

Umm... the people I mentioned have HUGE careers at the moment. So do many others on reality TV. Ryan Seacrest is one of the most successful people in America right now. JLo currently has chart topping songs. Stephen Tyler is Steven Taylor. Ellen Degenerous has a massive following and has one of the most successful talk shows on TV. Christina Agulera is a has been? Sorry, but if you think these people are has been you don't know what a has been is.

from making something like $50 million on a year for a radio show to being lumped into that group above is a pretty big fall don't you say?

I will give you that Jlo is as close to a star in that group above that you will get but that's mostly because she is hot.

ryan seacreast is famous for being on tv so not sure how he qualifies.
steven tyler is the epitome of a has been.
ellen is a has been comedian.
christina aguilera is a has been. do you think Britney Spears is not a has been too?

stern brought over a billion ( tad high i know ) people to satelite radio...to PAY and listen to him

he is very far from a has been

he is doing this show becasue he wants to and he likes it...not to mention a payday he couldn't refuse

but you are way off w/ the has been remark ....has been's dont make 500 mil ..if not more per year

Kay yeah, that settles it. You don't know what a has been is.
PS - Ryan Seacrest does a LOT more than host American Idol. He's considered to be one of the most influential people in the US. And if Stephen Tyler is a has been, then so is Mick Jagger, lol. To reiterate, just because you aren't personally interested in these people doesn't make them has beens. You have to look at how successful they currently are and how huge their fan bases are. And everyone mentioned, including Stern, are currently huge.

Exactly, how many people are important enough where millions will pay monthly to hear them speak. Has been? No dude Imus is a has been. You don't have to like him as others have said but give credit where credit is due.

Another example as someone already said. Sascha baron Cohen gave an hour long interview as himself and not in character, (borat, bruno, ali g). That was only the 3rd time in his career he did that. Why? Because he respects Howard. Thats the only reason.

never said ryan seacrest is a has been. but ryan seacrest doesn't qualify because his field is being on tv. he wasn't a star in another field before desperately clinging to a prior career by going on reality tv.

meet me at the next Aerosmith show. uhh wait Aerosmith is done and hasn't been relevant in about 15 years so yea i'd say he is a has been. as for Mick comparing Steven Tyler to Mick Jagger is blasphemous. it's like comparing Ellen to Richard Pryor.

Aerosmith just finished a tour and sold out stadiums and they are about to start another. How you feel about them vs the Rolling Stones is irrelevant.

Most people that don't like stern think that he's all about sex, fart n dick jokes, and butt bongo guests. But if you hear him interview celebrities, he is amazing at it. He know how to get inside of someone head. I can't tell you how many times I've heard celebs say that they can't believe they talk about whatever. Sterns ability is to get people talking. Weather its about ones sex life or abuse as a child (Colin Quinn).

He also knows if an interview isn't going well when to end it and move on. I think ed would be a great guest and would be able to roll with the punches of sterns questioning. I hope one day stern can get ed in there.

I think Ed is too shy to have done the interview in the 90s. I believe Gary has tried to book it but PJ has declined. Fred is a big fan, thus the songs in the outros and intros. Harvey Leeds is friends with both parties and can be the conduit to make it happen.

Funny you ask this...about a month or so ago, they addressed this question during a Cornell interview and Howard said that the band refused to go on. Howard went on to say that during the Ticketmaster Battle, he really wished Eddie would've come on so he could've tried to help.

There is no way that eddie and the boys would ever go on the Stern show. I listen to Stern every day and he is a great interviewer, but he also will get very personal with them. Stern is so fucking good and I am telling you it would not end well. We all know how much Pearl Jam loves there privacy and Howard would try and get a bunch of stuff out of them. He would ask how much are you worth? How much pussy did you guys get back in the day? At the end of the day I would bet that they are all fans of his, but they dont need to go on his show. I would love it if they would but as a huge fan of both Howard and PJ i just dont see it happing.

Maybe if it ever happens Sal and Richard can ask the boys to do a prank call to Tradio with them.....I love those phone calls so good....if you never heard them you should go on you tube and search sal and richard prank calls. So good!!!!

He didn't have to do AGT. He only did it because he was a fan of the show and most reality shows. And he wanted to do something where he didn't have to do all of the work. His dream was to be a game show host. And was jealous of guys like Howie Mandel hosting game show like Deal or No Deal. Where all you have to say is "Deal or No Deal".

Watched Howard on The View, The Today Show w/ Matt Lauer, and Jimmy Fallon. He was brilliant on every show! I've never watched a single episode of AGT, but my wife and I can't wait 'til Monday to watch now cause Howard is on it. Don't think we'll see Ed and the boys on the Stern show anytime soon though.

i don't stern personally i just think his schict is sad and played like the class clown who is still acting the same at 40 that he did at 16. and i think his fans far over estimate his relevance since going to satellite. looked up some stats and when Howard 1st went to satellite radio they estimated 1.2 million people signed up to follow him over there at the height of his popularity. he was once on in almost every major city on free radio. Howard made a killing financially and gained some more control of what he could do but the bottom line is he sacrificed his relavance for it. his radio audience today is a cult following. for reference America's Got Talent has averaged 12 million viewers per episode since it's debut.

I recall pearl jam selling a shit ton of records 90s and then sacrificing their relevance to have more control over their music and careers. Also just recently didn't pearl jam sign a deal with Target for backspacer? That's certainly something that Most people would consider a sell out.

A lot of people I speak to also say pearl jam fans are sort of a cult following.

Isn't that exactly what Pearl Jam did? They made a killing financially and gained more control over what they can do (i.e. the "power of no") and sacrificed a ton of mainstream popularity by drastically changing the sound of the band since No Code, refused to do music videos for the longest time, and the whole Ticketmaster thing.

Edit: the poster before me beat me to this point
