New Gaslight Anthem single "45"
I think this may qualify as Pearl Jam related enough to post here. The new Gaslight Anthem single "45" was posted over at Rolling Stone today and the song is incredible. It's produced by Brendan O'Brien and he did an outstanding job with their sound.

Looking up more info on their new record I read an in-studio feature over at Spin. The new record entitled "Handwritten" is produced by Brendan O'Brien. The sound of the new record was described by lead singer Brian Fallon as "Really big, like Tom Petty songs being played by Pearl Jam or Foo Fighters".
Reading that got me very excited for their new record and I love how these guys are huge Pearl Jam fans. Brian blogged about being obsessed with "Go, Animal and The Fixer" and wanted to include the vibe of those songs while writing songs for Handwritten. He also blogged a couple of weeks ago and mentioned that he is a 10 club member and that maybe the GA should run a fan club ticketing system similar to Pearl Jam's and call it the 11 Club. They've stated a bunch of times their desire to open for Pearl Jam. Gaslight Anthem want to play arenas, I'd love for Pearl Jam to take them there before they blow up and are headlining on their own.

What do you guys think of the song? Hear a Pearl Jam vibe?

Wow, tell us how you really feel.
I love these guys, great song.
Last time I was at pops my buddy got kicked out of Gaslight right before they played State of Love and Trust and I missed them doing that. SOOO bummed.
Surely, someone who likes Pearl Jam has better taste in music than your post suggests

:nono:
Saw them, for the first time, in Feb. 2009: AMAZING show.
After that, saw them so many times... Milan, London, HRC...
I really love this band.
My dream: one day a Pearl Jam tour with The Gaslight Anthem as supporter.
Btw, the new single is great, reminds me Tom Petty mix with Foo Fighters and, a little, Pearl Jam
Handwritten, their new album, could be kick ass. Seriously.

*the in between is mine*
I hope that Pearl Jam continues to push the boundaries of who they decide to collaborate with and/or tour with. I just don't think Gaslight or even Kings of Leon for that matter challenge the common PJ fan to the level that I expect. Then again, I'm certain my opinion is pretty low on their list of priorities!
Certainly going down that road. And I think the Strokes are the best band to come out since the turn of the century.

they "opened" for Pearl Jam at London Hyde Park Calling two years ago, and I also saw them live at the tiny Oxford O2 Academy - where they did a brilliant cover of State of Love and Trust

As another poster commented the Gaslight Anthem's previous records are really strong and you'd be hard pressed to find a bad song on them. "The 59 Sound" is an incredible album and new fans are going to love hearing an album that good from a band they had previously never heard of or are only vaguely familiar with. Here are a few of my favorites - A few off each record-
From Sink or Swim- "I'da Called You Woody, Joe", "Drive", "Red At Night"
From 59 Sound- "Great Expectations", "The 59 Sound", "Old White Lincoln", "High Lonesome", "Film Noir", "Here's Looking At You Kid", "The Backseat", "Meet My By The River's Edge"
From American Slang- "American Slang", "Stay Lucky", "Bring It On", "The Queen Of Lower Chelsea", "Boxer", "Old Haunts"
Full disclosure, I had a hard time not listing every song on The 59 Sound- It really is that good. Also, they do some amazing covers including a fantastic "State Of Love and Trust" and a not-quite-Pearl Jam-great-but-still-stellar version of Baba O'Riley.

The Danny Clinch connection is awesome. As someone mentioned, Brian has a sideband called The Horrible Crowes and I just picked up their RSD 7" and the picture on the cover was shot by Danny. The HC 7 inch for "Lady Killer" also has a cover that was shot by DC. Seems as though they keep pretty good company.
