FOUND: 98 Soccer/Football Jerseys
98 Soccer/Football Jerseys were sitting at my door waiting when I arrived home at 10pm last night after 8 hours of work and a 2 hour adult soccer league cup match. I have really wanted one of these for a long time and for one reason or another have never been able to acquire one. Now I have both

Since the purpose of this thread has been achieved I will no longer be continue posting for the sake of the great admins. who make this all possible. I will be starting a new thread in the "Porch" forum to continue to discuss people's love for both Pearl Jam and the beautiful game that is soccer/football should anyone be interested.

Received my Ames Bros Pele poster in the mail this week from 10c and it reminded me I still need these bad boys. I have played the game my entire life, and have a massive collection of soccer/football shirts from around the world. Have loved Pearl Jam almost as long and have only just started collecting memorabilia (posters, holiday singles). Would love to find these shirts as they would be a nice little bridge between my 2 guilty pleasures :twisted:
Medium or Large would best as I could wear them occasionally but I am buying them for my collection so any size is fine.
Would love to hear about other's football/soccer collections or connections to the game in relation to Pearl Jam too, so feel free to post about anything really on the subject.

Now if someone could just find me that Troy/Chicago 98 poster that I so stupidly bought, tacked up in my dorm room, moved from place to place, and eventually lost, I'd be a truly happy camper!

Nice Grab! He was absolutely fantastic in that year's World Cup and no one can forget that sublime goal vs Argentina. That match was horribly officiated as England went out on penalties (after winning the game with 10 men). That England team was the best I have ever seen at a major tournament on foreign soil (and maybe ever). They had a beautiful blend of youth, experience, pace, size and a golden generation of players that you get once every 50 years. But the World Cup is so fantastic because all that can hinge on a single moment of a single match.

1998 Umbro Manchester United Black Training Top/Emergency 3rd Kit (Extremely Rare :twisted: . The team used the black training shirts as an emergency away kits for a few matches with Red/White opponents (Southampton below, Arsenal and I think 1 other). They had the club badge on the left breast and the manufacturer name next to a small logo on the right. After winning the famous "Treble" (European Cup, Premiership and FA Cup) and becoming popular for its neon green trim Umbro released them for sale, but included a large logo above the company name "Umbro" on the breast of the shirt.

Awesome story about snagging the shirts. I have tons of friends who had no interest in soccer/football whatsoever who through liking the jerseys (and soccer/football video games, PES, Fifa, etc) have become fans of the game. There has been a misconceived notion in the past in this country that you need to have played to be a proper fan, which is total hogwash. Some of the most brilliant football minds I've ever talked to hardly touched a ball, but the time others spent playing they spent analyzing the game. The last few years those trends seem to be finally subsiding and a real fan base for soccer in the United States seems to be developing.

I was at White Hart Lane saturday where Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch with a heart attack and I'm still really upset by it. He was given medical treatment on the pitch and the game was abandoned. So shocking to see especially for a player so young (he's 23). Still on life support this morning.......
Really sobering moment and it makes you take a step back from everything and be thankful for your health.

Eric Abidal of FC Barcelona Friday had to undergo a liver transplant for a bout with cancer he has amazingly been fighting for some time now. While his is a much more stable condition, please everyone also keep him and a fast successful recovery in your thoughts as well.

I was watching that match live here in the States as I really enjoy the way Spurs play and tune in as often as I can. I have never been a part of a more shocking/upsetting/more somber moment in the entire 25 years I have had football in my life. I had to literally turn the television off. The way he fell is a lasting image that I don't think I will ever be able to forget. The first responders deserve all the credit for saving his life. I read yesterday a heart specialist in the stands invaded the pitch and in doing so was able to aide the Physio's and crucially alerted the EMTs on the ambulance to send him to London Chest Hospital rather than the nearest general hospital. That person deserves a medal. Marc-Vivien Foé dashes to mind constantly and its a credit to society and the proliferation of medicine that essentially 10 years later he has a chance to avoid that harrowing fate. I've played FantasyFooty online for years and Fab was a constant member of the squad the past 2 seasons since he is so reliable and massive to the Bolton side he was an instant selection in their team sheet. The way the entire football family across the world has taken up the thoughts of his survival and recovery has been a truly beautiful and touching thing, and his Mrs' credits it as a factor in his resolve the past 72 hours. It's a shame it requires situation like this to set aside the nonsense that exists in football. You can only hope uniting like this as one will put things in perspective for those people who abuse and tarnish the reputation of the game and use it to promote hate.
On a lighter note, I support Manchester United. I started watching club football after getting to know all the international players following the 94 World Cup here in America going to matches in Washington DC. The live coverage of football here was totally nonexistent aside from the rare 2 or 3 UCL Group Stage matches and Final per year on TV since we didn't have satellite TV. I treated these as holy grail's and had to tape the first half since school wasn't out till 3. The only 5 teams ESPN2 would ever show were Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Juventus and Manchester United (Opponent aside). At the time much of the professional style of coaching in this country was to a very physically demanding, up-and-down English style of play (due to the lack of language barrier) and my coaching was no different. Being a 8-11 year old kid it was naturally easier picking up/remembering names like Sharpe, Ince and Giggs than some of the harder to pronounce names in foreign languages (tho the sweet song of Manc dialect isn't much easier
Growing up in Washington and playing at the U-17/19 level for the club, DC United holds the same regards/timetable in my "supportership". Plus the trend of international friendlies during the offseason here in America, (they started 10 years before anyone else) I have gotten to see many of the most heralded clubs in European football. I got to actually see Spurs play live in Washington some 10 or so years ago now in a friendly Jürgen Klinsmann had set up and brokered. Actually got to meet him getting into his limo in front of the stadium walking on the way to the subway. There weren't any Spurs supporters around and I was the only person who recognized him and got to chat for 15 second and have my match program signed before people started to gather. In a funny Lost Dogs appropriate fashion I traded that program to a HUGE Spurs fan across the pond for a signed Ryan Giggs Testimonial Program from 2001. Talk about a GRAIL for a GRAIL :twisted:
With the proliferation of popularity of the game in Spain here in the States and on a personal level having quite a few friends who have always followed/supported Spanish teams I caved 10 years ago and adopted one. Since I had fallen in love with United before really being able to grasp financial unfairness/injustice or the social aspects that influence football support, I wanted to go with the guy in the shadows. Thus I went with Atleti de Madrid and get to suffer with the most bipolar football squad known to man.
Other than that it is whoever playing the Scousers or Man Chitty

DC United scoops their first 3 pointer of the campaign in a 4-1 drubbing of FC Dallas (worth looking up on youtube the goals were sublime), but like a Pearl Jam show was that much better getting to be a part of live. (Bells Two-Hearted keg at Screaming Eagles tailgate was no "twist of the arm" either
