Anyone going to Sound Town in Somerset? I'm probably not going, but it looks like a good lineup. I remember going to Somerset when it was still Floatrite Ampitheater, and 93.7 The EDGE (the Twin Cities alternative/rock station in the early 90's, before it was 93X) held EdgeFest there. I'm fairly sure that there's a compilation CD out there with mudpeople on the front and one of them is my older brother. Haha. River's Edge - probably not (although tickets are a pretty good deal $99 for two days!)

i went to a couple of those. i remember little of either, but i do remember after losing my friends much earlier in the day i somehow found myself up at the very front for motorhead. bottles of vodka were being passed all around up there. that was something else.
another thing i actually remember is making out hardcore with some random gal during crystal method.
oh, hole played one year and they were late, and when they did play the only played a handful of songs before courtney walked off. a radio dj came out later and started a 'courtney's a cunt' chant. or maybe it was 'courtney killed kurt.' maybe both.
other bands i remember from those years were def leppard, scott weiland, mighty mighty bosstones, offspring, green day... but i barely remember the shows.0 -

Fuck...every single one of those bands you mentioned, those shows you mentioned, I was there for. I remember when Hole did that. I remember the fruit costumes for the brass section of the Bosstones, I remember Def Leppard being so shitty.

one of my best friends is a die hard def leppard fan. they do exist apparently. i've seen them something like 7-8 times now because of it. that edgefest show was the first i saw, but he wasn't at that one. their show is never that different. the one at the xcel in 2003 was probably the best since they actually played some "deeper" album cuts, a few from high n' dry, which is actually a good record. i went with him and his lady to the state fair show last year, too- heart was opening and i'd never seen them so at least there was that. heart even did love, reign o'er me, along with zep's rock and roll and battle of evermore.
those edgefests were a lot of fun. i wish i was that young again.0 -
