(When scientists first wanted to make something happen in that part of the brain, they would do so with harsh imagery, but later found out that music does the same. Obviously, music creates a much more positive reaction. It's also known that as the mind deteriorates with age, music and songs are often one of the last things that remain. I've heard storuies of old ladies who wouldn't/couldn't speak anymore, but would hum bits of songs they'd listen to a lot during their life.
 Music is amazing stuff.
yes, this reminds me of when a friend of mine, whose sister was in the hospital in a coma (her sister was 8). She just wouldn't wake up, so my friend brought her Discman to the hospital and played the Aladin soundtrack for her sister. She said it was the only time her sister's heart rate rose and they got any kind of response from her. Eventually she woke up and she's doing ok now.The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

So awesome. My Gram is 97 & still relatively ok, moves slow & short-term memory is pretty much gone, she knows my face but not who I am for instance. She was over a couple of weeks ago with my Mom & I played Water on the Road. Gram was sitting, head back with her eyes closed which always freaks me out a little, so I asked her if she was ok. She opened her eyes, looked at me with the ghost of the smile I used to know, & said "I'm listening, its beautiful."0

I always tell my family, if I stop reacting to the music it means I'm dead.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0

            this is a true story.
in junior high and some of high school i had a friend who disliked music. once when dad and i were taking him home from his spending the weekend over at my place, we were sitting in dad's ford escort in the driveway with the car warming up as it was winter, he asked me to turn the radio off as he disliked the music, i then turned the dial to find another station, he repeated his request.
the dude disliked all music. he said it bothered him
i can understand if dad's ford escort housed bumpin mega bass woofers and extreme highs from tiny speakers up near his head.....but no
dad didn't have a pimpin ride nor a big pimpin system.
the dude disliked rock n roll, country, and anything music. yet he played the trombone in school band
 http://youtu.be/9U_Gk-5vPWU
here we have a solo trombone performance
what did i learn from my pal in junior and high school? i learned teenage trombone players hate music of any sort and i learned my dude was a weirdo.for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

My rule is that anyone who doesn't like either music or dogs is trouble.
If they dislike both, they are likely serial killers. All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all0
