In the Point, you can be comfortable in the back of the pit, yet be bery close. its only the middle thats quite mental!

Thanks Chime for the info. My son is going to be so disappointed but I still have to go. I see that there is only seating for 1 of the European shows so I assume the rest are GA. It's been so long since I've been to a GA show...I think when I saw them in Austin years ago. I just hate being slammed around and trying to find my footing at a concert. But whatever, it will be great no matter what.

P.S. I'm new to this whole message pit/ talking on threads thing so I hope I've done this right.

Don't take a 4 year old to GA. Even if seated, venues will have age restrictions and then you need to be upstairs. I didn't take my daughter (11yrs) to the Astoria because of restrictions and I'm not going to take her to Dublin because of GA (and I'm going to get hell for it). Too dangerous for a young child.

If you're able to I presume standing at the back (I'm not usually at the back so don't know how well behaved they are) you could be fine just will mean a lot of lifting him up for you

EDIT: from looking at the news page it seems Bern and Verona may have seating.

Jurys Inn on Custom house quay. Kind of the Irish Travelodge, prices per room – it’s right between the Point and the City Centre. Perfect location. Another one is the Holiday Inn on Pearse St – close enough too.

they’re both pretty good and each room usually sleeps 4. For PRE gig drinks – there aren’t really any pubs near the Point that I can think of. I think we’ll have to get our heads together and come up with something. Bruxelles would be PERFECT for after gig drinks. I think nearly all the beds in me house are gone but we may have room for one or two more who just want somewhere to sleep. Anyone wants help with anything just ask or pm me.

The maddest concert I saw in the point was Velvet Revolver and I had to get out of the crowd – it felt like a crush but there was loadsa space on either side where you can kinda see a little bit and you’ve a lot of room. Do NOT bring a kid though – I’m sure there may be age restrictions anyway.

How far from the centre is the Point?

I'm staying with a friend, so at least that is settled. No idea where she lives though, haha

I reckon my sitting room would be great for after gig drinks!!!

Bruxies would be fine too... just not the metal bar! I can't handle the scowls!

Well, for safety's sake I'm not going to take him. Also, I'd go crazy if I had to stand at the back for a show. I like to be up front (but who doesn't). I'm just going to have to find someone to watch the kids and go with someone else. I've only been to like 2 concerts since I've lived here, so I haven't been to this venue. How many people does it hold? Anyway, is anyone else out there going to the Netherlands show?

tix on sale this sat at 9am so lookin like im gonna be late for work!!

with regard where to go b4 hand....maybe FOGGY DEW pub just off
Dame st......The MEZZ just off temple bar area in fact bout 2 min walk
from F D pub......EAMON DORANS in Temple Bar.......

dont know many pubs en route to the POINT (which holds bout 8,000!)
so cant help there im afraid!!

cant believe that no other UK dates added apart from Reading/Leeds
so im SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING the Paris gig on sept 11th as im not
back to college til the 18th!!!
another trip to Jim Morrisons grave will be in order too!!

there will prob be alot of jumpy jumpy activity up the front even though
the bouncers act all dickhead like in that barn-shed of a venue!!

with radiohead/beck gig on the following night its gona be a great week
for me to be home from Boston!!! maybe some of u travelling over could
try and stay for that that gig too...although tix are very hard to get!!
