I was surprised when I started looking into Manchester hotels......99 quid for a 4-star hotel is a bargain!
  • Hey Rubysdad,

I was looking into the travel package, and the hotel is in Brussels. The package says it includes train transportation between Leuven and Brussels, and there is a shuttle service from Leuven to the festival.

Talking to people on the board and researching the festival, however, it seems as if the last train from Leuven to Brussels each night leaves well before the end of the concert. Factoring in the time it takes to walk to the shuttle bus from the festival grounds, you would need to leave pretty early to catch the train and get back to the hotel in Brussels- possibly before the end of the PJ set.

Am I interpreting this correctly, or would it still be possible to stay for the duration of the concert each night and still return to your hotel in Brussels? I also emailed CID about this, but thought I would post here, too.

    Thanks!

    I would totally do this.

Its just bad timing. Bad week/weekend for me.

But nice look... Hopefully they can keep offering stuff like this.
  • PittsburghPJ, I don't have any direct answers to your question, but wanted to add that cab transfers are available, but very pricey.

A friend and I were staying pretty close to the Grand Place in central Brussels in July 2010, the day PJ was playing Werchter. We found out we had access to tix the day of and thought about taking a cab to the Festival from town around midafternoon. A cabbie quoted us 100 Euro each way, which would have run us about 250+ American for the roundtrip. So, that option is available, but not very logical.

Sad story, we skipped the show and drank incredible beer at a great Belgian bar. I was still bummed about missing the show, though. I made up for it by catching them last year in Toronto.
  • Thanks, Max. Obviously we would not be paying that fare four times!!

We decided not to stay in Brussels after researching everything. We found a pretty good deal in Leuven in walking distance to the train station/shuttle busses.

I think my original question is still a valid point of concern for anyone buying the 10C package - how are they getting back to Brussels from Leuven each night?

maybe im an idiot i never been to europe, but im looking to go to pj shows from amsterdam through berlin shows. i look into logistics of going to werchter, and it seems the easiest is take train from amsterdam to there and it about 2 hour ride i think? isnt brussels atleast an hour from the festival? what appears the best to do is rent a hotel that is like 10 miles or so from the festival town, it all small towns around there? but i found a few hotels on hotels.com that say they like 10 miles from there. one was like a old hotel by a waterfall maybe 10 miles from the festival. looks really nice was like 150 euro a night.

what is the main big city in netherlands north of the belgium festival when you first get into netherlands going back north from belgium? is it ultrecht netherlands? that place seemed like a bigger city that is closest to the festival on a map, or is same distance from festival as brussels would be?

what the best way to get from belgium to prague show? is it stupid to take train, and plane is not much more expensive for 1 way ticket?
  • also this is why i hate when europeans bitch north america still gets more pearl jam shows. north america is huge it takes hours and days to drive from one side to another, in europe it seems like you hop in your car and atleast in a few hours you hit a few big cities, atleast in those little countries and the ones that are heavily populated

well im an idiot netherelands border is not as close as i thought, i thought werchter was right on the border with netherlands? i think that hotel i saw was in tremelo belgium town north of the festival grounds, anyone been there before?
  • Guys,

From the town of Tremelo you can go by food from the festivalpark to the hotel in tremelo.
    It's about 40 min.

In mine opinion the easiest way for brussels-prague is flying with LOT-Polish airlines.

The easiest way for amsterdam brussels is by train...

But why you guys don't rent a car?

    Brussels - prague 800 km.
    Brussels - Berlin 700 km.

For my is this the easiest way and I think also the cheapest.
The cheapest for rental cars is : 'auto europe" watch out!!! this is not the same as europecar !!!

Please let me know if somebody wants more europe info...

    regards
    Sven

Nothing's arranged for France ? I'd like to go to Arras...but going to be quite expensive....I would have done with a special hotel rate, to tell the truth....
    (I'd drive from Clermont Ferrand)
