NEW PJ ALBUM and mike..
mike, please tear it up this time. sometimes i feel like you're wasted on the albums. you do amazing work with star anna and all the other artist you work with, but the last killer guitar riff you had for PJ was "given to fly". if you guys are "experimenting", i hope jack white, black keys, and zeppelin or even pink floyd are some influences floating around the lab when it comes to guitar playing. hell, get high one day in the studio. it would help. maybe you guys still do every now and then but the music would say otherwise. most classic rock songs were not written with a completely clear head, but a very open and imaginative mind.

Dude, why are you like this? I mean really. Every post you make is so grouchy. Yeah this is a meaningless thread. Sure, the notion of PJ feeling the influence of the Black Keys is silly. And so is the notion of smoking a bunch of weed to open your mind and shred. But so what? Get freakin' life and get off people's cases.

Agree with everything said here. I think every post I see from dude is getting all over someone - even if it is a senseless thread or post. But I'm not here to tell anyone what to do or not do, but I have noticed this a lot as well.

Binaural had Nothing As it Seems, Riot Act had Save You, Avocado had Inside Job, (Backsapacer is weak all around but that's another thread...) Of The Earth was written in there somewhere, and he shreds on that!
I would love for him to have a solo on every song, but he's not absent on the last couple!

I think riot act and avocado have more soloing from him than the rest of the catalog combined (aside from ten). He's been plenty present imo
I'd recommend listening to Binaural especially Nothing As It Seems and Breakerfall - watch Breakerfall on the Showbox dvd, Mike's solo is amazing. Riot Act has Save You, Get Right, Half Full, Help Help and All Or None. Check out Inside Job from the self-titled album. These are just some songs, there's more.
Yeah he was abit absent from Backspacer but he was all over Binaural, Riot Act and Pearl Jam.

Mike being non existent on the last couple of albums is utter nonsense and I stated my opinion of that very clearly.
And for telling a recovering addict to get high every once in a while to help him out may be the most brutally ignorant post I've read on these boards.

Agree with you and I think a lot of people in this thread really missed what you were saying. Riffs people, not wanking solos, which he seems to do a ton of lately. I get more satisfaction listening to Stone solo these days because, like you said, he is soloing in the context of the song and you can feel it tightening and building to an end. Mike used to do that in the Black solo, which was always tremendous and didn't have that awful, organ-like effect that he's grown so fond of lately. I also don't understand the clean guitar sound these days. To me, nothing sounds better than a dirty, fuzzy guitar sound. Kinda like Uncle Neil on Le Noise.
