Early this morning, news broke that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after serving in the U.S. Senate for nearly 50 years. Soon after, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick.”
Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically attacked Kennedy, calling him a “villain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement,” wrote Breitbart in one tweet.
never a big fan of breitbart, but this does beg the question, how soon is too soon?
when is it ok to call someone like Breitbart an asshole?
In reality, it is our actions that lead to how people react to our deaths...
I hate the condescending, hyperbolic nonsense about the greatness of individuals much more than someone calling a person who died an asshole.that’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders

Especially for his four young children. :( RIP

He (Breitbart) was a somewhat of a rotten, destructive human being.... But anyone who takes some sort of satisfaction or pleasure from his death is no better than he was.My whole life

I was actually just thinking that...
I have never really understood the hate for Hannity and Beck...they are personalities...they may irritate you, but hating them seems like such a waste of energy...if the left was indifferent to them they would be MUCH less popular...I venture to say that more people listen to him because they hate him rather than love him...that’s right! Did I once say anything positive or negative regarding Breitbart's character in this thread? Nope. I simply said people shouldn't stomp on a dead man's grave because it's classless.
I find it ironic that Breitbart did something similar and that's now being used as a rationale for why it's ok to do the same exact thing to him. In my opinion, it's either right or wrong to stomp on a dead man's grave, be it Ted Kennedy or Andrew Breitbart. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Moreover, what exactly is gained from bad mouthing a dead guy? Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

I can't believe there is anything but revulsion for Breitbart on this board. This is the man who once said "I hate Eddie Vedder. Pearl Jam even more so." At least he appreciated PJ's version of Crazy Mary, though.
Condolences to his wife and children, but for all other purposes good riddance.0 -

When did he say he "hated" them? I searched for it on google and came up with this...

The context in which I referred to the term "classy" had nothing to do with wealth.
Anyway, a man died. You can certainly dislike what he stood for and state that. In fact, you can state whatever you want - it is a message board. But, I just would encourage you or others to not stomp on a dead man's grave. Feel free to continue though. You certainly are making yourself look good so far.0 -

"To the living we owe respect, but to the dead we owe only the truth"-Voltaire.
Truth is he was real scum. It has nothing to do with politics in my eyes either. His doctoring of video leading to the firing of the department of agriculture employee whose name I cant remember now was downright despicable. Yeah feel bad for his family, but don't act like he was some pinnacle of morality or some garbage. He was sleazy. I said it while he was alive and I'll say it when he's dead.PLAY THE SOUTH0 -
SweetChildofMine wrote:You are so full of fodder, arrogant and self righteous, its actually quite funny to watch a pompous asterik like yourself go at it. No wonder why you are the perfect cheerleader for people like Breitbart. Be careful I just may have to keep knocking you off that high arrogant horse you rode in on. A dose of humility would do you quite well. Did I stomp on his grave anywhere, no. I said good riddance, please. And said I was even sorry for saying that in my initial comment/post. If this is all you have on me as a person. Get REAL. Get a LIFE. Get your head out of your rectum.
You should probably be careful with your derogatory comments directed at posters; the mods don't like that sort of thing here - read the sticky at the top of MT if you need a refresher.
I have two things to respond here:
1) I never said anything positive or negative about Breitbart in this entire thread. Go ahead and re-read it. My comments were pretty much all in regards to people stomping on a dead man's grave. It's bad karma, especially within hours of the death.
2) In my opinion saying good riddance, as well as your other comments in this thread were not classy the day of a man's death. So, that's why I originally stated "classy", which resulted in this back and forth. That's my opinion. I stand by it. You are obviously free to continue though if it makes you feel good inside. Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

We owe respect and truth to both the living and to the dead - as well as to ourselves...with the understanding that truth, I suppose, is subjective.
Opinions and candor are one thing (ok, two things), but some of the ugliness in this thread took me aback.0 -

Since when did people have to stop hating someone because they thnj he was a rotten human being just because they died???
I don't even know who this dead asshole was, but I am loving this thread, lol. :roll:With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0
