It wasn't on mine. It was for some time something we were not even allowed to talk about, but it must be ok now, since it's on PJ radio. Beautiful, ain't it?
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
I love that song...similar to "I'm Open," but with even better narration/dialogue ("She said to me over the phone she wanted to see other people...I thought, well then, look around. They're everywhere.")
I think this track was only included on the promo versions of 'Lost Dogs' and/or the Japanese version (or promo)...details have been sketchy on it over the years...
"I know I was born and I know that I'll die...the in between is mine"
Interesting. For someone reading this board quite frequently, I was clueless to this.
I liked the line that was something like "She said 'I'm confused' and I'm like, 'Darling join the club.". At least that's how I think it went since that was my first time hearing it.

we got 4/20/02, and Japan got I'm Still Here. Or so the legend goes.
More like a myth that was busted a while ago. I'm Still Here is not on the Japanese version of Lost Dogs.
When Lost Dogs leaked before it came out, it had I'm Still Here at the end. The accompanying text file stated that the leak came from a Japanese promo CD of Lost Dogs. To date, this supposed promo has never been found.
so cool that pjradio played this. i've got 6 cds worth of stuff, thanks to gremmie! just remixed them & made new artwork last night. such a treasure trove of music we pj fans do have! would love to hear more from post 04-present day. how about a "holiday" e.p. instead of a single this year? it's almost march, studio time!!!

I think you can just use the Lost Dogs cover art for it.
No idea of the origin, but it's a pretty sad breakup song...

musically, it's obviously akin to present tense which has lead many to speculate it dates from those 95/96 sessions, however, the vocal take leads many to think it would date from more 2001/2002 area. nothing is for certain so the mystery goes on...

I thought it was pretty universally accepted that it was a Yield outtake. Did I miss some new information being shed on it?
Why didn't they release this? This is truly touching. I never knew this existed. Such a beautiful piece of art. This song could help so many people if they only knew about it.

Isn't it a depressing song? I can't remember the lyrics exactly, but doesn't it end with the narrator at his grave?
I think it ends with the narrator buying another round of drinks. Before that he's imagining his grave, or at least thats how I remember it.
Its been a while since I've listened to it, but its an incredible song. I've only listened to it through youtube so will have to get it on my ipod tonight.

I'm still here is basically Ed solo, whereas the main riff in present tense is by Mike. I think its pretty obvious that this song was written in 1999 or 2000, and pretty obvious what it is about...
It's always reminded me of 'I'm Open' a bit, so i figured it was from No Code era, but possibly Riot Act too. At first I thought it was done around 2000 for obvious reasons but the line '24 years old, midlife crisis...' makes me think it's just a remembrenace of something that happened years before.

well, I don't know how obvious it is, but I have an inkling it's about someone who was edited out of MTV Unplugged.

she said to me, over the phone
she wanted to see other people
i thought, "well then, look around,
they're everywhere"
said that she was confused,
i thought, "darling, join the club"
24 years old, mid-life crisis
nowadays hits you when you're young
i hung up, she called back, i hung up again
the process had already started
at least it happened quick
i swear, i died inside that night
my friend, he called
i didn't mention a thing
the last thing he said was, "be sound"
sound...
i contemplated an awful thing, i hate to admit
i just thought those would be such appropriate
last words
but i'm still here
and small
so small.. how could this struggle seem so big?
so big...
while the palms in the breeze still blow green
and the waves in the sea still absolute blue
but the horror
every single thing i see is a reminder of her
never thought i'd curse the day i met her
and since she's gone and wouldn't hear
who would care? what good would that do?
but i'm still here
so i imagine in a month, or 12
i'l be somewhere having a drink
laughing at a stupid joke
or just another stupid thing
and i can see myself stopping short
drifting out of the present
sucked by the undertow and pulled out deep
and there i am, standing
wet grass and white headstones all in rows
and in the distance there's one, off on its own
so i stop, kneel
my new home...
and i picture a sober awakening,
a re-entry into this little bar scene
sip my drink til the ice hits my lip
order another round
and that's it for now
sorry
never been too good at happy endings...

I've always loved this song and this verse is one of my all time favourite EV lyrics. I always thought of it as a positive verse, a lot like the ending of "Walk" by Blind Melon:
I can't believe that I have to bang my head against this wall again
But the blows they have just a little more space in-between them
Gonna take a breath and try again.
Something awful happened, and there was a lot of pain and dark thoughts, but at the end of the day there is light and life goes on.

and just when I thought ive heard every song. great song, sounds like im open but his voice sounds later. I would say probably from binaural or riot act.
but it being on a japanese version is still unsubstantiated. I'm betting it was just leaked, kinda like how Better Days did, and no one knows where it came from or the back story.
