It's only February...I'm sure they'll announce something as soon as the new album comes out.

You'd shit yourself at what $15 bucks would get me.

Back in my day, $15 would get you a half & half

Face is $78.50... So you're telling me fees are only $3??
Either way $78.50 face is insane to pay for a solo EV concert.
That's what they charge to see the PJ at MSG, the single most expensive venue to play at.
I didn't realize it was so expense to travel around the south with a handful of guitars/ukuleles, a fake corona box & a couple of schmatas...

    1. EV tickets seem to be demand-based, not cost-based.

    2. Great use of the word "schmatas"

75 bucks to see an accomplished musician play 25+ songs and tell you awesome stories. You do not get that very often.

Edit: So more like 90 dollars. It's worth it to me.

Just keep calm its what Jesus would do.. I'm not sure if you realise, but there are other countries in the world other than the US... 2 years is not a long time mate, we had to wait 5 years between 98-03 down here in Oz... They cant please everyone at once, but you will get your turn soon ;):D

Too damn right you will! Stop whingeing about them not doing enough shows in the US. They've done more shows there than in any other country, yes I know that's where they come from so they're justified in doing so. But it seems to me that no matter how often they tour the states there's always someone whingeing for more. It gets so old, there's no pleasing some of you people. They're not popular enough in England cos of the lack of shows they've done, though they've toured there a little more of late. Great to see them touring other countries, like South America for instance.

Well people on this thread are saying their tours are smaller because they cant sell out arenas. So that means play smaller venues/clubs. Isnt that what Eddie wanted from the start

The band is 20 years old. Be happy they're still playing at all! And for those complaining about ticket prices, yeah it sucks, but remember: most people illegally download their music these days and it's impossible to make money selling albums. Ticket prices have gone up throughout the industry, not just PJ

It made my night someone actually knew what schmata means :)
Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting to use that word in a PJ related conversation...
  • you spoiled little american brats! you poor souls haven't had the band in your town in an ungodly amount of time of 2.5 years! for shame! canada got them in 1993, and then not until,um, two thousand and fucking five!!! that's TWELVE years! (unless you live in the big three-Van, Mtl, TO).

And then another 6 years after that!

    49 shows in five years?
Let me tell you about two shows in twenty years. That's what Brazil got.

I know that PJ is from US and that you made the band or whatever someone was saying before (which I don't agree but shh), but we are all fans, we all wish we could see them more than once - or even twice. Just because I'm not from US doesn't mean I deserve less attention or love from my fave band. (And I'm not saying they should play here every year because I know it's not that easy, but I'm reffering to the ones that think they deserve more because they are Americans.)

Also, you are all really lucky with ticket prices! The cheapest show here was R$180.

I'd like to believe that but I saw Primus for 40 bucks. I'll be seeing the shins for 35.

Yes, when you buy tickets @ the box office of Bass Concert Hall they charge a $3.00 per ticket, most venues charge $0.00 when you buy tickets @ the box office, I buy tickets to concerts here @ the Frank Erwin Center in Austin all the time the day of the show and pay $0.00 service fee.

Yep, plenty of bands that PJ used to share ethics with are charging less. Wouldn't be as big of an issue if PJ didn't cultivate a certain image for the first 3/4 of their career.

The pirating thing is another cop out. Didn't PJ have some kinda up front guarantee for BS and if you look at the other post-Napster album sales they seem pretty well in line with the way the band was selling before pirating became a big deal.

Sorry, you're comparing apples with oranges there, those bands aren't in the same league as PJ. I don't think PJ's ticket prices are unreasonable and they have more than just themselves to consider, let's fact it as much as we don't want to consider them as a business they are and as such they have responsibilites such as employees wages to pay.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

Can't argue that the ticket prices are high but with the reduced schedule they play these days the comparison I make is to the NFL. At most your team will play only 16 regular season games and 3 or 4 in the playoffs. (Screw the preseason.) That is 19 or 20 chances to see them a year and high ticket prices reflect that. If Pearl Jam plays 20 times a year rather than 45 or 50, their ticket prices reflect it too.

I'm OK with the ticket prices because the shows are always so good and differ from night to night. I can see why some are not, but I still am.

Definitely not the same drawing power, but PJ is playing venues 10x the size so supply demand is probably pretty similar.

I think PJ shows are worth the price, but they never had issues paying the bills and they benefited from an image standpoint quite a bit when keeping the prices more reasonable.

Not my problem that they wanna play a vastly reduced touring schedule.

Nobody is slapping me in the face...
    Nobody is insulting me....

Fact is Pearl Jam has played 49 shows in the States in the last 5 years....

    And I consider that....
    A fucking JOKE!!!!

Very hard to argue with this. Averaging 10 shows in your home country for the past 5 years sucks.
