So the real question...Why is Pearl Jam ignoring the States?

  • I think the fact that a lot of people are considering have to go overseas just to see this American band speaks volumes

It's crazy tho think Americans would want to go to Europe plus see their favorite band. It's ludicrous.

Look, not everyone has loads of money to travel the world. I'm just saying I think most would rather have the option of traveling to a few shows in their area of the country they live as opposed to having to plan the logistics of traveling abroad if the main reason is to see the band.

That just doesn't happen anymore. It actually hasn't happened in quite a while. They aren't going to play everywhere anymore. They don't have to. They are going to play where they want to play and where they know great crowds will be, crowds that will sell out. It sux if you can't get to any of these places, but this is what Ed has always wanted and finally has the power to call these shots. He never wanted to be the band you are now asking for.

Exactly. It's like it is a brand new idea for people to go to Europe for a vacation that ties into a show by their favorite band. It's been happening for decades.

People are totally missing the point........its a celebratory year and the fact is the US MADE this band. If I lived in Seattle especially I would be baffled....I think that is real insulting imo. I see them a lot but the money machine is on full display...I mean look at EV and last Ill mention it... :) ....there are no weekend shows because they can pocket more money and the venue charges less. Its like the Beatles skipping Liverpool, Bruce skipping Jersey, Pantera skipping Texas, Bosstones skipping Boston, Phish skipping Vermont, DMB skipping Virginia....its weird...need I say more?

Congrats... Have fun & bring a pillow.
If your seats are close enough, bring a carton of cigarettes to give to Ed as a thank you for keeping ticket prices down...

I went to the venue (Bass Concert Hall) in Austin and bought two GREAT seats for $163.00 total for both tickets or $81.50 each after fees, just show up and see what happens, my buddy saw him in Detroit last year and said he paid $20.00 to get in.

  • Since 2000, Pearl Jam has been averaging touring the west coast of the US every years. Between 2000-2003. I saw them 5x. I had to travel a little to do so. I was single then and didn't have kids. So, I saw them in San Diego, San Bernadino, Houston, St Louis and San Diego again.

Fast forward to 2012 and I am married with kids. I would love to travel to Europe or the East Coast to see Pearl Jam. I don't have disposable income like I used to. So, I have to wait to see them again in San Diego when they come back for a tour with the new album. I saw them in '06 and '09 and the shows were amazing. I can't wait and I hope it's in 2012. I can't blame the band for not coming here although it is irritating that it seems they play MSG every two years. I know they'll be back and it will be awesome. If I didn't have responsibilities then sure I could travel wherever to see them. I could have tried for Eddie tickets the last time he was here, but I opted for the Vs\Vitalogy boxset.

It could be worse and they wait 5 yrs between tours like U2 or other artists.

The Beatles skipped everybody and nobody skips the Northeast.

Face is $78.50... So you're telling me fees are only $3??
Either way $78.50 face is insane to pay for a solo EV concert.
That's what they charge to see the PJ at MSG, the single most expensive venue to play at.
I didn't realize it was so expense to travel around the south with a handful of guitars/ukuleles, a fake corona box & a couple of schmatas...

anyone that was at the vic theater show or the atlantic city shows in 2005 knows full well a theater tour is the answer, and is an amazing experience for fans... why they continue to try and sell 15,000 tix in the US outside of the east coast, or completely ignore areas of the country is beyond me
