Any info on 2012 euro badges? On my day to day backpack I have the 2010 one, the why no you don't bitching one and a pj20 one. I have room for more though... I really like it when my students ask me what they are (along with the stickers I have on my lesson planner)

What is the cheapest way to handle cell phones? I do not want to take my Israeli phone because the charges will be outrageous. Any cheap local solution? I will be in Amsterdam, Belgium and Berlin. I probably will not be making to many outgoing calls, mostly receiving calls from home and sending text messages.

Will your hotel have free wifi? Find free wifi hotspots?

Skype calls over free wifi and texts over free wifi through an app such as whatsapp? Also think the app viber allows calls and texts over wifi.
I am assuming I would need a smartphone for that.

Does your phone company have an option for an international text messaging plan? My US plan has that, it's still not cheap, but better than paying hundreds of dollars from unanticipated texts (you will text A LOT if you're trying to coordinate with people via text).

Or you could look into SIM cards in one of the countries you'll be in, and check rates for using it in the other countries you will be going to. You will need an unlocked cell phone though, which shouldn't be hard to get.

I was thinking of something along those lines. I was hoping someone in one of those countries (I'll be doing amsterdam, werchter and berlin) could help me out on the details.

you could try to get a prepaid sim card in just one of the countries. if you're mostly receiving calls, roaming charges shouldn't be too bad as it's all EU countries and therefore limits apply.
