    Thanks for all the tips! Hotel San Jose looks awesome but is probably out of my price range. I'll probably opt for something more budget friendly and closer to the venue since we'd most likely just be in Austin that day and then heading to Arlington/Dallas the next morning.

    Just got the email. Wow. Now I really have to make it happen.

    just in case, im posting this in here:

    The fiance and I both put in for the Tulsa and Dallas shows because we're living in Kansas right now and those are the two closest. Well, we both got lucky for the Dallas show. So, we have 4 tix to one show.

    If anyone else out there is in the same boat as us except you have Tulsa tix - and would like to go to Dallas - lets work somthing out. Id rather go to two shows than have some half ass fans tag along from Kansas to the one.

    If there are two people who have tulsa tix but only need one and want to make the trip to dallas, that would work too.

    Crown and Anchor Pub http://www.crownandanchorpub.com/ 0.8 miles from venue so can walk. And good Yelp reviews too http://www.yelp.com/biz/crown-and-anchor-pub-austin.


    Scholz http://www.scholzgarten.net/ This may also be good. 0.9 miles from venue so can walk too. Has outdoor biergarten and plenty of space. A fine bet if the weather is nice. Serves decent (not great) Texas bbq and German food). Good Yelp too. http://www.yelp.com/biz/scholz-garten-austin


    Maybe Scholz' before and Crown and Anchor after.....

    Any good spots even closer????

    I have lived just about everywhere in TX and currently reside in TX
    but nothing like Austin
    pre party details
    need the woman to step it up for a south TEXAS Party
    Im a dude I dont know what to do but show up in the parking lot early
    hell lets just have it in the parking lot i don't know what bars are in that area been 10 yrs
    since I have been to the capital
    can't wait!!!!

    Both of these spots are being considered as the official EV Pre-Party spot. I am organizing the pre-party now and will put up a FB page and official thread in the coming days. Getting the beneficiary locked down first, then will be selecting the venue.

    Got my confirmation! This will be my first Ed solo show and first time in Texas (coming from Nova Scotia) I can't friggin' wait!!! :-D

    I think Double Tree guest suites is your cheapest closet best bet, but google for hotels neat UT Austin and you can start Google mapping the distances to Bass Hall.

    If you stay further south in downtown cabs should be about $7 each way, maybe less. Downtown has more hotels.

    I would not stay anywhere east of I-35 if you plan to walk. Could be a little sketchy.
