What an amazing show!! Long live random seating inthe first 10 rows.... I had 4th row from the stage last nite. Truly an amzaing show. that is the closest i have been for almost any show. Eddie on a stool with a variety of guitars, mandolins and his Euke... met some really cool folks at the pre-party and inside the show. I am definiltly spoiled now...and i have to sit in the balcony tonite (WHAAAA... poor me!!) :-)

  • I've never posted here before, but just had to say that last night's concert was absolutely perfect. Despite the idiot randomly yelling "Immortality" and "Footsteps", everything was awesome. Eddie's voice has never sounded better and the crowd was really, really into it. Great singing by all!! I was a little worried about how the crowd would be in a laid back setting like LA, but nothing to worry about. The setlist was unbelievable. Throw Your Arms Around Me, Soon Forget, Broken Hearted, MOTH, Lukin, The Into the Wild stuff, No More and the rockingest version of Porch that could ever be played solo, well let's just say it was a great night. Can't wait for tonight, though I have no idea how he could possibly top himself. Also, Ed was hilarious in his speeches and his breaking down the stupid heckler. Just a complete pro. Perfect!!

Awesome show tonight! Eddie rocked it! i was really impressed that he didnt bring out a back up band. Besides a little help from Liam Finn the show was all Eddie. He played several songs I was hoping for so i went home very happy!

  • Awesome show last night! The seats were amazing and the other fans I met were great! It felt like a sing a long at a friend's house last night. I'm still digesting how good of a show that was. I really wish they were available for purchase. It was definitely a night I would love to re-live again. I think the hair on my neck and arms are still standing up from ARC last night. It was also great to see Phil Jackson rocking out in the balcony last night.

Wow...words can't explain how beautiful last night was. Eddie's voice was as perfect as I have ever heard it, and despite a few flubs here and there, he really showed off his chops as a guitarist. Perhaps the most amazing version of "Porch" I have ever heard, along with a sped-up version of "Lukin" (if that's possible :D ), an intense "Masters of War," a spirited, crowd-pleasing version of "Hard Sun," and absolutely beautiful renditions of "Broken Heart," "Trouble," "I Won't Back Down," and "Throw Your Arms Around Me" were among the highlights.

The most-stunning-song-of-the-evening award, however, has to go to "Arc." I was absolutely floored by what Eddie managed to do with the song live. The intensity of his voice as he hit the high part of the chant was breathtaking. And I believe that everyone in the crowd felt that this was something special -- even those who aren't familiar with the significance of the song.

    A few other notes:

    - could we have asked for better weather? It was about 95 degrees in L.A. yesterday, with a slight breeze that made it feel like a perfect summer day. Really, really beautiful. A great set-up to a perfect night of music.

    - Eddie is a funny guy and completely won over the crowd with his sense of humor. Cases in point:

    a) although not listed in the setlist, Eddie paused after "I'm Open" to play/sing snippets of Worship Songs he had heard on the television that morning (one was called "God is in Control" and the other was "Limit Yourself"). This was hilarious as all hell and had the crowd in stitches! He then tied this in to White House and John McCain before playing a kick-ass version of "Masters of War."

    b) after talking about Cameron Crowe being in the house, Eddie started talking about Cameron hooking he and Jeff up with money for small things during the filming of "Singles" (he said Jeff got $500-$800 for lending his shorts and leggings to the film, and that Eddie himself got the same amount for giving Matt Dillon guitar lessons). He then went in to a HILARIOUS impersonation of Matt Dillon that was spot on and had us all cracking up.

    c) After talking about the last time he was here (for the benefit with Beck, Mike Ness, etc.), he mentioned that Chris Rock was also at the show and went in to another HILARIOUS impersonation of him. In his best Chris Rock voice he said something along the lines of... "What am I doing here with all these white people? It's Martin Luther King day. I should be out fucking a white woman!" :D

    - I didn't see Cameron Crowe, but I did spot John Lithgow in the Loge section.

    - If that fucker who wouldn't stop shouting "Footsteps" is back for Night 2, somebody better break that fuckers mouth until he shuts up. He was the only negative spot in an otherwise perfect evening.

    - Got a couple posters about 30 minutes after the doors opened. Zippos were sold out by then, though...gonna have to get there earlier today!

    - Sat far away in Mezzanine for night 1...have 10Club tickets for tonight. I'm salivating at the possibilities for tonight.

Not a bad seat in the house last night. Beautiful venue and such an amazing setlist. So very cool just seeing Ed and many great songs just played by him.
Around the Bend, masters of war, guaranteed, driftin :), sing out, porch, arc!!!!!!!

The whole show was perfect. Very tempting to go tonight. :)

Met Phil Jackson by the mens room...he was EXTREMELY cool, greeting everyone who passed by.

The show was amazing. It's weird, Ed's voice almost entrances you....you can't help but sit there and just say 'Wow'.

And No More was pretty awesome.

AMAZING SHOW TONIGHT! There is NO way I can be here and not go tonight!
My favorite songs from the show: 2 way tie, Arc, MOTH...
Man of the Hour was the most AMAZING version of all time!

Liam Finn was awesome, buy I don't want to watch anyone before an Ed solo show, I just want Ed to come out... Laim Finn was great though, I would love to see a full show, i hope he gets out and tours some time!

Oh, I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED a ticket for tonight's LA show!
Please PM me if you know of anything!
    Thanks

Completely agree. I was bummed about having mezz seats but once I got there it didn't even matter. The show was spectacular. Liam did some really cool stuff and Eddie's voice was amazing. As far as I'm concerned he doesn't need any special guests to make the show any better. I can't wait for tonight with 10C seats!
Hail, hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love....
  • To everyone who is irritated by the guy yelling out Footsteps, Immortality, etc. get used to it for night #2. The same guy, or at least someone saying the exactly same thing, kept yelling for Footsteps at Santa Cruz and Berkeley #1 (I wasn't at Berkeley #2, but I think I heard that the Footsteps yell happened there too). It would be cool if EV does perform Footsteps, but at the same time it would validate yelling out at the concerts and that is not a good thing.

It just seems weird/surprising that a fan who travels all over California - proving that he must be a big fan- would be lacking so much self-awareness.

Great rundown ... one small correction ... I don't think there was ACTUALLY a praise song called "Limit Yourself." Ed made that one up, saying this is what those songs SHOULD be called. The words were about like, "don't think independently" and "be like everybody else" and stuff ... not a real praise song.

I also like Ed's line about God and skydiving.

    "Who packed your parachute?"
    "God."
    "Well, could you check?"
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do
