Thanks for the link. If you can, on WGBH out of Boston, the Boston PBS radio station, listen to Eric in the Evening, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eric in the Evening is an 8:00 p.m. to midnight jazz program. Every year on the MLK holiday, Eric plays excerpts of MLK speeches followed by jazz music. Rare MLK speeches get airtime and the music is particularly moving. Pretty cool and it rally makes you think.
Thanks again for the post.

You don't have a TV? You non-American socialist! How do you watch celebrities dance? How do you keep up with the ever important guido-monkeys on the beach in New Jersey. Shame on you.0 -

I'm on my way to no TV. I have 5-channel cable, which only costs me 6 bucks a month. The unfortunate thing is that I can't choose which channels I want. I have PBS, which is great (NOVA, Frontline, real news programs), but having basic cable means I am stuck with CBS, NBC, FOX, and, ABC. The shows/news on those stations sucks---Mainstream garbage.....0 -
funny to see how everyone on this site will only be nice and compliment MLK while denouncing Christiianity all together!! How can you be for a man of Faith like MLK and denounce Christianity at the same time? I always see this hypocrisy!!! And if this offends you, then you must feel convicted! LOL
I say, if you got the balls to denounce Christianity, you better have the balls to denounce MLK too!Theres no time like the present
A man that stands for nothing....will fall for anything!

If you listen to MLK and love him, then you love Jesus and believe in Jesus Christ! So dont be a hypocrite! Treat everyone the same and dont play favorites to improve your image! Stand on your principle-less words and world! Just say it! Say that MLK was just another crazy Christian! Cause thats what many of you say about all other Christians now! Have the balls necessary....i want to hear it from all you ANTI CHRISTS on this site!Theres no time like the present

MLK is rolling in his grave now ... his legacy has been pissed on ... MLK spoke against racism and the military industrial complex ... both still alive and well in the US ... indeed, he was a great man but he's just a symbol with no meaning these days ...0

The legacy of our grandfathers who fought in WWII is also being pissed on. They fought against tyranny and facism, and today we have a corporate oligarchy in power that uses our politicians like marionettes.0 -

Racism still exists, certainly. But I do believe it is far better than it was in MLK's day. So I bet he'd be discouraged by the lack of more progress, but still encouraged at progress.
As for the military industrial complex, that is probably a different story.
How can you be a symbol with no meaning exactly?hippiemom = goodness0 -

While watching Gangs of New York last night I chuckled at the response given by Amsterdamn to a priest telling him when and where mass will be held over the weekend. i thought the pun was comical. Apologies.0 -

i think the problem of racism is worse than you think ... we had 3 presidential nominees say that airport security should racially profile all muslims without a hint of backlash ... i also think that people are not interested in facing up to the reality of how bad it is for the same reasons why no one really wants to talk about the wars for what they really are ... most say yeah, the war is bad and leave it at that ... but the US is occupying two countries now for greed ... no one wants to talk about it ...
MLK represented the spirit of activism against inequality and tyranny ... you can't honour that while continuing to do the things he opposed ...0 -

I'm a fit, single WMA and when I fly, I usually buy a one-way ticket and fly out of a different airport on the return flight. I should be pulled out of line every time I fly or at least be looked at more suspiciously. But a little old lady and I both stand the same chance of getting an extra pat-down. That doesn't make sense.
The candidates should not have specified Muslim. They should have specified that we should take all prior security threats and develop a profile based on facts and evidence. And then we should profile based on those facts and evidence. To say we won't do that because someones feeling are hurt that the arrow ending up pointing towards them is lunacy.
And I don't know where that arrow will end up pointing, but we should find out fast.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0
