Pumped Up Kicks is a fun song, but I think it overwhelmed their other efforts. The rest of the music on Torches is just so-so. They could be in danger of one-hit-wonderdom. They better have some new music soon...and it better kick ass... Otherwise they're doomed. Too bad...

Helena Beat was played on the radio a lot around here. It wasn't officially released as a single though, only as a promo single but did pretty well chart-wise from what i recall. Not as well as Pumped Up Kicks though.

I like them and I think their entire album is good, but it seems like it has no substance to it. Its just super poppy, super catchy alternative that your just gonna get sick of eventually.

When I first discovered them in about March or so, I heard Helena Beat. I like it better than Pumped up Kicks, and there's other songs on their album that are better. They're not deep or anything but its decent to listen to in the car when you want something a little lighter.

 I kinda like that song, haven't heard anything else by them. But others are right when they said that it's a song that can get overplayed and tired very quickly.

    They simply don't rock.
None of these contemporary bands rock hard like the bands of the 90's.

I'll take you to task here: I wasn't too big of a fan of Cage the Elephant... until I saw them live. Holy SHIT! Those cats are rock reborn! I've seen them open for The Black Keys and Foo Fighters - both times they blew me away. Any time they go on tour, I'm buying a ticket. Outstanding!

i think they are pretty terrible. but i also hate vampire weekend and arcade fire. must be this genre of rock that I don't get or have gotten too old and cynical to appreciate.

    To each his own!

I'm stuck in my 90's bubble lol
I wish Aussie rock would be as big as U.S / U.K.
No Aussie band has ever changed a generation or ushered in a new movement/sound :(

That's not a bad thing but it's a lot of fun searching around for some other music. It doesn't need to "rock hard".

I like many accoustic slow songs.
Not saying I hate anything that 'does not rock'.
But overall these contemporary bands are American Idol with a band.

True, I have to do some searching. I've discovered some pretty cool music thanks to a local radio station here called The Current.

Give it a listen sometime, maybe something will spark your interest.
