My poster craze started with the Pearl Jam Seattle 1998 poster. As most of us know 1998 posters are some of the best ones out there. At the show, I thought $12 was a lot to be paying for a poster, when I had been paying $4 to purchase a Ken Griffey, Jr, or Brian Bosworth poster.
I really liked the art work, and since most things are expensive at concerts, I just chalked up the $12 price as "markup", rolled it up with a rubber band and made my way to the G.A. floor. It wasn't until a few days later when I unrolled it and really looked at the poster that I noticed that it was silk-screened, and beautifully done. The way the colors popped and just a great image of the city of Seattle getting blown up from a submarine.
Having just joined 10C in 1998, when I got my first newsletter (#13 I believe), I noticed on the back that they had left over posters from several shows at $12/each plus shipping, including Philly, Raleigh, L.A., New Zealand, Virginia Beach, Toronto/Montreal, Salt Lake, Rushmore, and Vancouver. I checked all of them off, put my check in the mail, and eagerly waited. A few weeks passed and the posters arrived ALL IN ONE big triangular mailer (how times have changed). All the posters were inside, with the exceptions of Vancouver, and Rushmore, because they had sold out of them in the time it took to process my order, so I was issued a refund of $24, that came in the form of a check from 10C.
After this I was full on addicted to posters. Through the 2000 tour I ordered any poster I could get my hands on through shows, the website, or ebay. This continued through 2006, where I noticed (at the time) I had over 70 posters. Then I thought to myself, do I really need all of these posters? Of course I didn't, but I was addicted to collecting them. There is no way I will ever be able to frame them all. Lately, I have been better about collecting posters to shows I have been to, and ones that really peak my interest, not just any I can get my hands on.
There is something about concert posters, and especially Pearl Jam ones that give you that feeling in your stomach, that I can only compare to opening your favorite present on Christmas morning as a child. Just pure excitement and joy. That is why I collect...it is also why I have a problem. 0 0

I also first started as a concert memento but then got really into the art of them. I have been a HUGE fan of comics since I was younger and although I don't collect many comics anymore poster art bridges that world with my love of music. And movies for that matter, as I like a lot of the posters done for the Alamo Drafthouse. Now instead of following comic titles and artists I follow poster artists even though I get to purchase very, very few. Thanks for the chance.0

For me It started during pearl jams 2003 tour.As we all know once you start it never ends so when i hung a couple up of them up I went back and searched for all my concerts stubs and wrote down every show I attented on a notepad . Then I came accross Expressobeans and gigposters websites which helped me out at ton in finding the artist and posters of shows that i was missing which went back all the way to 1995 (pearl jam soldier field was my first show ever) .For now im just sticking with shows or any event I attend If theres a piece of art made for it ill buy, take down or ask nicely for it lol.. As it it stands now i Have about 100 posters but still missing 19. i would say that pj20 alpine valley has really put a hurting on our pockets for so many posters they have released LOL I think I only need 3 from that weekend Whew. After I'm done with show prints I dont think ill stop there that charlie brown print was real tempting, my kids would of loved it on the wall during the holidays. But that just how we addicts think they ALL look nice.

You ask, why do I buy concert Posters???? I ask "Why Not???????" Is it an addiction, yes....... The definition my wife would give you. Is it a hobby?????? "Yes, the answer I give my wife, because there are worst things I could be doing." The Bottom line is, it is the art of my generation. I grew up passing concert posters up in the 70"s because who cared then. Now I pay big bucks for those memories. The bottom line is, they are cool, they look good on my wall, they need to be displayed and they should not be flipped. They are the concert shirts for today's generation.0

Thank you everyone for participating! I'm going go try and scan it so everyone can see. I don't mind the klausen print that I was able to get, but it really is IMO one of his worse to date. The ames Petty vs PJ sold out and I had to turn to the secondary market to get one, which was actually a few years after the show. I stood in line and watched Honolulu 06 get yanked off the wall at the merch stand... took about 3 months to find that, and BOY DID I PAY for it!! I guess that is where I would confess to the rest of the users, that I became an addict. I bought almost every CCFA print from the Wishlist Foundation for the rest of the year/tour. I was an active participant, heart racing, fingers flinching every time 10C dropped another poster from the 06 tour. I was awake late at night when Klausen had his sales, and scored a bunch of great prints from 10C sales that were not advertised until the F5 button was scorched!
I started watching Emeks' site, and time after time got "store closed" until finally I got the Bee print. I watched and read with great interest when a bunch of the Santa barbara prints were torn to shreds and posted inside a bathroom! I bought print club subs to Dan MCcarthy, and was WOWed when I got the first one from him! So much Detail! I bought almost every Leia Bell print as she clumsily dropped them for sale on her new site. I called her and wanted to finish a collection and tried to find her location/small gallery in SLC before she moved into her current larger place. I remember the price changing as the inventory dropped...
I found Hampton and all his great work, and ordered the Obama print from him. I loved that I was able to 'speak' directly to him (through email) about some of his rare prints an he did his best to get me my fix. To have an artist dig through his archives for you feeels goood...
I took my daughter to see Adele, and knew Emek did a print but not for the Salt lake show. I contacted him and was able to get a print custom doodled by Emek to my daughter. So cool! He "drew" her name and cute butterflys!
I remember opening the Kenyon Hall I had scored on the 10C sale, and thinking "this is the shit" and then being able to grab the EV2008 prints at the one solo show I attended with my wife and two kids. I bought 3 of each... one for myself and one for each kid... thats a chunk of change. Who knows what they will do with them...
I remember hunting down the Bugs trio from 2000. I 'won' each one, and paid way too much for them. then spent HOURS on American Frame trying to decide what matting and what frame. They are still in the flat file, under the bed...
 Oh I could go on...
 Donating awesome prints to pre-parties.
Selling most of my collection of Klausens, Dusse, DC, Gorge, to pay for my mtn bike...
Sending tubes across the oceans to other fans.
The post office ladies! Oh how they love to see me and give me another tube that I will one day build a mini log cabin from!
 Anyway..
I almost bought one of the Hampton Led Zep prints too, but have refrained. I want a new mtn bike, and I really have to keep this thing in check!
edit: almost forgot to mention the drama that these pieces of paper induces! How about the video taper got of the Evil Empire known as ________ and those damn flippers! Who can forget the Donkey Kong on the pisser floor for sale before the show was over!0

            AWESOME!!!!
Thanks so much! I am SOOO looking forward to this arriving!
I might even feed my need with one of the Hampton prints. If it weren't so close to Christmas, I would already have owned it, but dough has been stretched so thin it wouldn't even make a pizza crust!"...would you like some forks?" EV 12-02-060

My interests tend to jump around a lot. Currently posters are at the top of the list.
 I blame PJ20...
I've always tried to get the posters from the shows I've gone to. In between shows it's not something I'd ever put much thought into. I've always been an art collector. Mostly animation art...cels,dougas,backgrounds,etc.
When we got to Alpine and saw all the different posters I knew I was gonna leave broke.
On day 2 we buy a couple Hamptons. The merch guy tells us that there were variants of each poster mixed in and we just scored one. Commence online poster information hunt...Bad idea. You know how much cool stuff is out there??? Pretty much been downhill ever since. Pretty much been downhill ever since.
So in the last four months the collection has gone from about 12 to 40+...
 JMo didn't help any...
Thanks for the shot. Way to feed the addictions on here Suzie.
Glad he got Zepp Booklet!MLMF Det0
