Dodge Music Center vs. XL Center?

If PJ tours and hits Hartford, which arena would you rather have it at? They're both nice...XL is very intimate while Dodge is outdoors.

Dodge minus the douche cops would be sweet

Xl was cool cause I was at the hotel connected to the venue

    08 show was mega
  • Random question, but since I'm an expert at traveling long distances to shows, I'll throw in my opinion - I much preferred the XL Center over Dodge. Great location, lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance, close parking, and the venue itself is far better than Dodge.

Since my only two PJ shows have been there, I kind of preferred the Civic Center. I love the Meadows, but with the Meadows, you don't know how the weather will be, if it's hot/humid (2006) or cold and rainy (2006); the weather at the Meadows can make or break the show. The Civic Center was awesome last year, the whole place was buzzing before the band came on stage, and some of the sing-a-longs were great with the crowd. Hope for Better Man next time they play the Civic Center just to hear the crowd do the first verse and chorus.

If they play at either place, I'll be there.

    Go Hartford!

  • I definitely choose the XL Center.

It's all about location location location and the location for the Dodge Music Center just plain sucks. There really isn't anything in walking distance from the venue and I remember the parking lots being far away.

The XL Center is in the middle of downtown Hartford and while it may not be NYC or Chicago, Hartford has some solid restaurants and bars that are really close to the venue.

Both in my neighborhood. The dodge is great on a perfect summer day. When it's cold and raining (like in 06), it sucks.

xl is dingy and old but the band seemed to love it.

I personally would love to see them play rentchelor field.
  • Both are only 4-5 songs away.
On a nice summer Saturday, Dodge. Any other time, XL center. XL seemed more intimate, less assholes wondering around, louder. 08 and 10 were both awesome shows. 06 weather kind of sucked.

    I guess I'd choose XL

The Rent would be interesting and could be great depending on your seat.

Agreed, but also, would they be able to sell out the Rent?

I went to the 08 and the 10 shows. I would return to Hartford in 2012 for a show at the XL, but would skip a show at the Dodge.

They probably could, if 10 Club gets a good amount of tickets. People from all over the northeast would go.

Capacity for The Rent is 40,000. Bruce Springsteen was the first artist to play The Rent, and the Stones and Police also played there.

  • I usually hate Xl center (recent UCONN grad, games are so much better at gampel!) but for PJ's sake, I'd say XL any day over the dodge music center.

Unless they play a bigger team at XL, then it's really exciting there.

Not even close. The XL Center. I hope I never have to go to that other dump again. The energy at the XL center in 2010 was crazy. I know they had a great time as they were laughing w/ each other all night. And Stone even played guitar on his back!!! They will remember that.

Now how about Bridgeport!! Much closer to me!!!

  • Im a meadows(dodge) fan, but if i was traveling and staing over night, id be a civic center guy due to the proximity of everything pre and post show. Bridgeport would be good, the west haven beach would be better. :D

Damn, Waterbury is far from all these places; Bridgeport also isn't a fun drive.
