I'm making a Christmas themed playlist. Listening to traditional Christmas Carols all day is not an option for me, since they drive me nuts. Pearl Jam have a few good christmas songs, but now looking for songs by other artists to add to it. Any suggestions?

I did a cover of "Let Me Sleep". Posted it on youtube and you can download for free. Always loved this song so I just stayed up one night last week and tracked it.

Get the My Morning Jacket iTunes session EP and add Chris Cornell, Ava Maria, the PJ Holiday singles are great, too. I think I have 5 related to Christmas on my playlist.

I've been listening to Chris Isaak's Christmas album and I love it! Standards mixed with seldom-heard songs and even a couple of originals, fine performances on all of them.

  • I put the Scott Weiland christmas album on for christmas eve dinner and my grandfather said the guy sounded terrible and he felt something was off with him. I told him Scott died at 48 earlier this month and he wasn't surprised. I however think it's a great album.

Basically anything I could find in Apple Music that was an original Christmas song.  I had all the essential classic Christmas songs - Bing Crosby, Eartha Kitt, Brenda Lee, Bobby Helms, Judy Garland, The Chipmunks, etc.   A bunch of rock - Springsteen, Petty, Mellencamp, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, The Darkness, Dropkick Murphys, AC/DC, Elton John, Carbon Leaf, JD McPherson, Lennon, Pretenders, Scott Weiland, etc.  A few pop songs like Mariah Carey, Wham!, The Beach Boys, The Waitresses, Run DMC.  Some swing, mostly Seth MacFarlane.  A few jazz/r&b/soul - Stevie Wonder, Jackson Five, Tinsley Ellis, Koko Taylor, Charles Brown.  A couple country songs - Kacey Musgraves, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam.  And a little classical - Guaraldi (Charlie Brown Christmas), The Nutcracker.  And some comedy - Family Guy, Eric Cartman/South Park, Adam Sandler.

The two repeat songs I had were I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.  The former I had John Mellencamp's version and the latter Springsteen, and I had the Jackson Five's versions of both.

Awesome list. I've heard most of those songs and I also created a mini list in spotlight that had many of the rock artists you mentioned. I forgot that Drop kick Murphy's had a Christmas song, I like that one!

It was quite a list, and what I listed above was off the top of my head & just kinda covers most of the basics.  Also had some Old 97's, Umphrey's McGee, Lou Reed, Jet, Slade, Coldplay, G. Love, Low, Sharon Jones, Fountains of Wayne, Plain White T's, Colbie Caillat, Julian Casablancas, and Weird Al among many others!
