This is awesome stuff.

"The discovery of this particle is fundamental to our understanding of how the Universe works."
More God discussion.. They often refer to it as the God Particle. "So, what happens when they finally spot the God particle? Obviously, the the destruction of all the Universe. But before that, all those physicists will throw a huge party and get pissed."

I posted this on the Aet forum and minimal responses from people. :?
This is some pretty damn cool stuff!0 -
Isn't this taking place in the particle collider that could potentially create a black hole that would suck us all in? If so, see you all on the way down. Yeah, I know, they say it's "safe", the chances of something going wrong are "slight". Ever heard that one before? Seriously, is it worth the risk and cost? Wouldn't it make more sense to use this money to solve the problem of too much CO2 in the atmosphere? Or cure AIDS, Smallpox, Cholera, Ebola, Malaria, Bubonic Plague, Alzheimer's, Typhus, etc., etc.?"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

It's crazy stuff..0 -
Gob wrote:They are talking about this explaining the universe, using knowledge learned from it to make supercomputers.. indirectly, it could possibly solve all of the above problems. Immagine being able to track and teleport the excess CO2 out of our atmosphere?

brianlux wrote:Yes, I do agree that would be very cool. Unfortunately, so far the technological side of our science has been more capable and efficient at polluting the planet and killing that at solving problems such as environmental degradation and disease. I know that sounds pessimistic and I really am trying to find some hope in this world but it's that "Puzzling Evidence" that makes it hard to do so.
If you haven't, read Ishmael.. interesting read.0 -

Again though (and sorry if this is off topic), good point about population. According to the World Population Clock the human population right now is 6,980,270,460. When I was born the world's population was 2,593,000. That's a pretty scary thought-- I mean the population, not when I was born.
And yes, thanks for the reminder, Ishmael is on my list of "to be read"."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
