Just been spinning this and I must say I am so happy to have a great quality recording of the original Immortality.
I remember for years having an audience recording.
Such a gem and kudos to Pearl Jam for releasing it.

I love the lyrics just before the chorus, the emotion is amazing in the delivery

"I won’t save it all
It is not my fault"

I know what you mean. i love the part where he says:
    "I could paint the moon,
I could reflect light into a room"

Damn, I thought he was singing:
    "I won't say at all,
    this is not my fault."

-you know, like it was his fault... still awesome.

Definitely my favorite version of Immortality. I'd love to get the whole lyrics to this though. See if they match up with what I think they are.

Just listened to this last night and the guitar solo seems to be missing. But the drums really rock! Dave A. does a great job all the way through to the end.

really like this version. I hope to hear the band play immortality live one day. Saw Ed play it on the UKE songs tour, and it was mindblowing.

They are to be found on the internet :)

    I could take the sun
I could call the couple anyone
I won’t tell the comfort in the world
    I can’t take it off
I won’t say, “Enough, it’s not my fault”
I won’t care, there’s something in the wind

    Take me as I am
    I don’t need this
    I die just to live
    Immortality…

    I could paint the moon
I could reflect light into a room
If I could, the fortune (all be there)
    I could paint it all
I won’t say, “Enough, it’s not my fault”
I won’t call the altar in the air

    Take me as is
    I don’t need this
    I die just to live
    Immortality…

    I can’t take a walk
    I won’t fight this world
    I won’t save it all
    It is not my fault

    Take me as is
    I don’t need this
    I die just to live
    I won’t stay long
    I’ll be long gone
    I die just to live…

    Love this version, too!

Yeah I like the recorded version more, the lyrics are fantasic and the actual recording of the song itself. It's just cool to be able to have a alternative version.

I'd really love to hear a clearer version of Light Years the demo too.

    Bet Cameron Crowe has one!
  • I thought the line was, " I digest to live..."

wouldn't that make more since, tied in with the whole vitalogy/anatomy concept?
  • I'm Immortalityman and I approve this thread
    "Immortality..."

Dave A. did a great job on everything he played in the band.
