UPDATED!!! Americans favor Tea Party far more than Occupy WS

Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm that has been correct with most of its election surveys this year, has a new survey that indicates the Occupy movement is grating on people. Surprisingly, after two months of Occupiers defiling public spaces across America, voters are suddenly more fond of tea partiers than of occupiers. Even better, Tea Party favorables are up ten points from a month ago among independent voters.
The Occupy Wall Street movement is not wearing well with voters across the country. Only 33% now say that they are supportive of its goals, compared to 45% who say they oppose them. That represents an 11 point shift in the wrong direction for the movement's support compared to a month ago when 35% of voters said they supported it and 36% were opposed. Most notably independents have gone from supporting Occupy Wall Street's goals 39/34, to opposing them 34/42.
Voters don't care for the Tea Party either, with 42% saying they support its goals to 45% opposed. But asked whether they have a higher opinion of the Tea Party or Occupy Wall Street movement the Tea Party wins out 43-37, representing a flip from last month when Occupy Wall Street won out 40-37 on that question. Again the movement with independents is notable- from preferring Occupy Wall Street 43-34, to siding with the Tea Party 44-40.

We've been enjoying the responses to this thread, and it is interesting to see the results of this little experiment:
The thread was posted in response to another just like it, from a poll about a week earlier, when public sentiment favored the OWS movement more than the Tea Party. Since that time, the numbers have flip-flopped, and although the poll still finds that the majority of Americans dislike BOTH groups, many of you are still "shooting the messenger", so to speak.
Consider this:
-The poll was conducted by a Democrat organization w/ an accurate record in regards to polling.
-The numbers are very similar to the previous poll that found Americans favored OWS (and that poll was cheered and accepted, the source never questioned.) See the thread.
Yet, here in this thread, when the results are not to the liking of the Train People, they immediately start questioning the accuracy of this poll- AND ALL polls in general. We begin to see posts asking if anyone has ever been polled- the chorus of the Train clamoring that polls in general, are ALL inaccurate. Fascinating!
Add to it, the usual tearing down of the source- which happens quite often here- and is generally good practice-although some sources like NYTimes, HuffPo, DailyKos, and Wikipedia, seem to be wholely unquestioned here. What was suprising here is that this poll was reported by a wide variety of news sources- including Yahoo and others- they didn't conduct the poll- yet the poll is not to be believed b/c the Wash Examiner also reported it. Again- fasinating.
Finally, the "WE" is a small focus group of politically diverse people, who in the course of a study on Conservatism and Liberalism, have been reading and gleaming what we can about the thought processes of said individuals, from various chat rooms and websites and comment pages. As a PJ fan, I enjoy the Porch a lil more that the Train, but I suggested to the group that the Train be one of the sites that we study, b/c of the, uh, "diversity" of ideas found here. (Plus, its a great excuse to read the other PJ related forums in the meantime.)
So far, it's been enlightening... Thanks.

so most americans don't agree with either fringe groups.... suprise suprise0

x% of those polled. who did they ask? where did they ask it ? i would shudder to think my answers to a poll were used to be representative of the entire population. polls, unless asked of the entire population, are indicative of nothing imo.hear my name

That's the moral of the story: Pissed off young people on the left... pissed off old people on the right... who does America like better?
Answer: Neither.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Damn Cosmo, i think you Nailed it! that's really what it boils down to.0 -
Would you prefer to be death by lethal injection or gas? Since we're picking a side in a question with no good answer, figured I'd ask one of my own. It's funny how both the OWS and Tea Party mirror the Dems and Reps on so many areas, yet they call themselves "different". Your uncle in a dress, doesn't make it your aunt.. it's still your uncle.CONservative governMENt
Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis0 -
I call bullshit on this survey. How can you possibly support or oppose an organization's goals if you don't know what they are?0

They're accurate within the margin of error if done correctly.0 -
With the release of the new "Twilight" movie this week, I look for the Occupy protests to break up as that group heads over en masse to get in line at the theaters. The only people we should try to get even with...

WASHINGTON EXAMINER IS A BIASED SOURCE AND THEREFORE HAS NO CREDIBILITY.
from wikipedia:
When Anschutz started the Examiner in its current format, he envisioned creating a conservative competitor to The Washington Post. According to Politico.com, "When it came to the editorial page, Anschutz’s instructions were explicit — he 'wanted nothing but conservative columns and conservative op-ed writers,' said one former employee." The Examiner's conservative writers include Byron York (National Review), Michael Barone (American Enterprise Institute, Fox News), and David Freddoso (National Review, author of The Case Against Barack Obama).
