What is the origin / significance of this logo?

I got a copy of Florence & the Machine's new album the other day, and it has this symbol on two sides of the vinyl

To me, it kinda looks like the "alchemy" symbol (minus one circle) : different geometric shapes blended together to form one. Supposedly, the shapes represent the elements needed in alchemy to achieve the physical transmutation of metals into gold and immortality.
It could make sense that they should use a symbol representing the union of different forces or characters that allows the transformation into something else, spiritually superior. I mean, it's somehow consistent with the representation of the sun stone on the last holiday single.

In Zen philosophy, the mind is denoted by a square, which represents the box from which our thinking needs to escape. The body is denoted by a triangle, which represents the temple of our physical form. The spirit is denoted by a circle, which represents its all-encompassing nature, with no beginning and no end...

    Maybe?

  • Some see the the "All-Seeing Eye", the Illuminati symbol for the "New World Order". Pure conspiracy theory crap. The name David Icke keeps popping up...

hmmmm - all of these sound convincing, in their own way. Florence and the Machine's symbol is an almost exact replica of the PJ shape - a circle in a triangle in a square (will try and take a photo maybe)

Illuminati - something similar to this?

Here is Florence & the Machine's version - I notice now that it is actually No Code 'upside down' - but it is almost identical the other way up

  • I think that Flo's logo is pure design. No hidden message. (edit : the resemblance is very striking, though...)

And I always took the No Code logo as a stab at the conspirationists. Combine the message "No Code" with a variant on the most infamous "hidden" message/code of them all...

Yeah, you're probably right about that - looking round the album cover there's kind of a theme, which that bit fits with. Probably neither a tribute to PJ nor the illuminati :(
