clutch is an AMAZING band out of germantown(?) maryland.they've been around as long as pj, and have as many records. like pj, when you first hear them you think the guys are these big, burly TAD looking dudes..but once you see them live-you are CONVERTED!!! they started out as hardcore/d.c. punk and have evolved into a more blues based band..their website is pro-rock.com. albums i highly recommend are live in flint, michigan, blast tyrant, live @ the googolplex, actually, i recommend them all! do yourself a favor & check em out! they're still a club band, with a good following & their shows are phenomonal!!! i cant say enough good things about 'em...they also just got their own beer...

    JESUS ON THE DASHBOARD!

Great band. I've got most of their albums but I've only managed to see them live once, and that doesn't really count because they were opening for Iron Maiden.

Or, more accurately Monster Magnet was opening for Maiden and Clutch was the first band on the bill.

I'm not terribly familiar with them, but I did see them live and it was awesome. One of the best mosh pits I've ever jumped in. Fun, and harmless people just jumping around and having a good time.

My brother is a big fan. I've never gotten around to checking them out.

They played with Bloodhound Gang years and years ago. I believe my friends and I ducked out after BG, and missed Clutch entirely. Probably a bad call on our part. We were young!!

You went for Bloodhound Gang, and then left before Clutch came out?

Really good band live. Seen them a couple of times, once with a co-headinling tour with Corroison of Confomity. They blew CoC off the stage.

    Hehe, blew CoC... ;)

I adore Clutch. Seen them too many times to count... BLINDING live band

I also saw them double headline with Corrosion of Conformity a few times on that tour... Probably some of my favourite gigs EVER.

I always find it strange that not many people have heard of them
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

So the question is: where to start? They've got 9 full-length studio albums.

You wanna go with something from early on? The self-titled album is probably their best of the first three.

Somewhere in the middle? Pure Rock Fury -- maybe you've heard the song "Careful with that Mic..."

More recent? From Beale Street to Oblivion -- you've probably heard "Electric Worry".

    Trust me on this...

    1. Clutch - s/t
    2. Blast Tyrant
    3. Elephant Riders or Beale Street

After that it won't matter what order in which you check out the albums because you will be completely hooked as a full on Clutch Gearhead.

I mean does it get any heavier than this?

Both my kids sing along to the chorus of Electric Worry, and I thought that was awesome.

Hey, I never said it was a good decision!!

We had taken a lot of shit from the Clutch fans who weren't exactly tolerant of Bloodhound Gang during their set. I think that factored into the decision. We were surrounded by assholes, and kind of wanted to get out of there.

I was stoned - I don't remember all the "logic" that went into the decision. I am willing to admit I made a mistake; isn't that enough?

    HUUUUGE Clutch fan here!

I adore those boys! My ultimate gig line up would be Clutch/Pearl Jam or Pearl Jam/Clutch!

Seen them a number of times - always look forward to their gigs. Although they haven't headlined over here for some time (which is rather unusual). I do have tickets for their tour with Thin Lizzy in Jan though - just a shame they weren't the headline band!

Love watching JP behind the kit and the man is a true gentleman!

Jebus I need a live Clutch fix!!

Seen 'em several times. Always a blast! Love 'em!

I believe there's been a few threads about them here in the past, but it's always great to see them discussed again!
