I am a very new PJ fan. My first shows were PJ20 (1 and 2). My baseline for guitarist begins with Jerry Garcia. I also grew up with Springsteen. With that said, I thought Mike McCready is a fantastic player. But..... I am looking at this list and not that Mike should be on the list but holy shit, David Gilmore at 85.......... Johnny Ramone in the 30's. Robert Randolph at 95...... Come On. Only 2 women and no Lita Ford. What are everybody's toughest on this ????

Now you can see the uselessness of these types of lists. They don't necessarily reflect reality and only reflect some peoples' opinions.

I would have to google this, but I do believe several years ago he made the list in Rolling Stone. Not for sure, though....

Maybe this is what I am remembering, check what it says under the Recognition section:

"Can't buy what I want because it's free..."
  • If it's the old list they were left off of, I know the dudes from RS came out later and said they effed up by leaving Mike and Stone off.

No he and Stone Gossard never made Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists. Which the editor admitted he made a mistake when he reviewed "Pearl Jam" (Avocado)

They were mentioned a few years ago in the "New Guitar Gods" issue as the 2 headed grunge monster or somethin like that, along with the mention in the S/T review.

They could definitely be there, but I don't think it's that big of an oversight to not have them in the original top 100. There's been alot of very good, very important guitarists through the years. I'm sure there's names that made the list that are less deserving than Mike or Stone, but there's probably just as many that didn't make the list that are more deserving.
