Did anyone else notice that Ed broke his mike stand smashing it into the stage at the end of Alive? The bottom probably broke. He then grinned and showed Jeff and he chuckled too.

Ed didn't just break it, he practically drop kicked the damn thing! haha

Ed was definitely working hard last night to get the crowd going...i'm amazed at his energy.

He didn't break it, he smashed a hole through the stage with it! I was front row dead center (won the lottery, thanks 10c!). It was hilarious seeing Jeff's face though! After he showed Jeff, Eddie crouched down as if he was going to get into the whole and sing from down there.

    Great show

    Great show

oh shit, I just assumed Ed could not do that because the stage had to top quality, but that is fucking badass !!!!

It was hilarious that look from Jeff, Ed was impressed with it too lol

i agree with the first quote "nevmiles"...The real me definatley not my fav for that second encore...it made a perfect ending go from being completely awe to just real real good... either way...wow...i'd to have love to have been there...
  • Second concert this week. Thank you fellas for a great show. I have even more admiration for your professionalism and talent, given the crowd's inability to rock out (so unlike the Toronto show). Loved all the tricks Eddie and crew had up their sleeve to coax the crowd out of their shell. Hope u guys read this post!
  • So right before they played off he goes, ed mentioned that he was going to give us a choice between a more "rocker song" and a more "campfire tune". Assuming that off he goes was the campfire tune, what could have been the "rocker song"? I see some people thinking daughter, but that doesn't seem badass enough for me.

anyone have a picture of the setlist or know what they were going to play? The crowd freaked out at the first three notes to off he goes so we never got a chance to hear the other option!

On another note; my third show of the tour (Montreal, Toronto I and Ottawa), and a very nice finish to what was an awesome week. Got 25th row floors 10c seats right on the aisle, which was surreal. Had a very clear view of the stage all night.
Yes, they did play some repeats from Montreal, but it's not like they were bad repeats (Last Exit, Counter, Alive, Setting Forth, etc.). My highlights had to be "The Real Me" and "Breath and a Scream". Never heard either of them live and it was a nice treat. Was really praying for them to open up with Release, but no dice. Hope you get it in the Hammer tonight!

Wow...The Real Me just did it for me! A dream to hear this live! I went crazy!!! Thank you so much for that treat!
Yes, Ottawa is a bit less into it but what do we care, we heard some great songs again!! :)

We would have freaked out regardless of what first three notes were played. Eddie's plan was flawed from the start :D Not that I cared. Off He Goes is a great tune, but, yes, it would have been nice to hear the other option . . . .

I see from the set scan that it was meant to be Indifference instead of Come Back (which was obviously added to be played by request). Either one would have been fine!....

And after thinking about it a lot today, I think I was too hard on the show . . . it was actually a really great one. Some great songs I hadn't ever heard live (Breath!!!!! Low Light!!!!! and most of the Backspacer tracks), or hadn't heard in a while (Whipping!! MFC!).

I think the reason I was a tad disappointed originally is because my brother and his friend were there (and other friends of mine), seeing them for the first time and everytime a song came on that I thought they may not recognize, I thought they wouldn't be enjoying themselves (as I had hyped up the show to them!). And to me, for the casual fan, there may have been alot of songs that weren't recognizable, which made me think some of my friends and my brother would be let down . . . but I have yet to hear what they all thought of the show, so hopefully the reviews will be good :)

But scanning down the setlist again today I realzied that it was quite a great show! And my 15th row seats helped too . . closest I've ever been!

  • This was my 16th show and this is the first time I am leaving a review. I thought the show was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised when my 254XXX ten club number landed me in the 11th row Stone's side! What a treat. I rocked my ass off. I brought my girlfriend to her first Pearl Jam show. At first she was leary and nervous about about going but she hesitantly came. After the show she tells me that the show exceeded every expectation and that it was absolutley the best show she has ever been to. Highlights for me were Breath, Corduroy (I thought it rocked extra hard), RVM, Grievence, and the Real Me. And as an added bonus on the way out I found an EV guitar pick. I had blast and overall it was an excellent time. Thanks guys.

I have to add - Ed's voice sounds really good right now. He's holding his long notes for ages, back like in 2000. Black, Low Light, Betterman...

he definitley held Blake tonight in Hamilton for a second and a half longer than usual too

his voice does sound really good on this tour and he seems to be in really good spirits. I think hanging out with Mudhoney is bringing it out of him

The drive into Ottawa went smoothly, and I arrived just in time to park my car at the venue's lot before the lot attendants began charging, which was a bonus. I received 4th row 10C tickets on Stone's side, the last 2 seats at the end of the row closest to the center section. Great sight lines of the band, and a good crowd around me.

However,I thought the crowd was a little more subdued than Montreal and Toronto but the main set (MFC, Low Light, Whipping, and Breath) more than held its' own. The up tempo material made up for the lull in crowd reactions and noise. The End was a great way to start the encore and Ed pulled it off nicely. It was funny watching Ed turn to Mike during Inside Job for the cues so he'd know when to jump in for his lyrics. Come Back was played for a girl in the front row who recently lost her mother, and she just absolutely lost it right from the start of the song, with Ed consoling her during the song and she also went on to receive a setlist. The Real Me was another encore highlight. I recall Smile and Indifference were on the Ottawa setlist but were dropped.

Not sure if it was mentioned earlier in the thread but I believe i saw Brisk front row center, wearing his "Matt Fucking Cameron" tee shirt that Matt insisted he trade for one of the crew member tee shirts, 4 drum sticks, and one of Matt's arm sweat bands. Not a bad haul at all.

I have lived in Ottawa for 8 years and been to a ton of events at scotia bank place and I had no idea you could even do that.

So that is what that was. I remember at the end seeing Matt walk to the end of the stage with a bunch of stuff and I wondered what was going on.
  • This is an amazing show and all together there have been a bunch of really creative and great setlists this tour. I can't wait to pick up some of these shows!

Some of you mentioned about the same songs between Montreal and Ottawa; I agree with that! :(

But... It was the second show in a row that I was winning the lottery (9th row at Toronto 2, 2nd row tonight!!!) and I can't complain, really. Too bad to see the setlist tonight and that Smile was crossed off and that they changed Indifference for Come Back but... they played The Real Me, which is always cool live!!! And yet, I have to give this to the band; the level of energy never changed between the shows; always at their best!!! You guys are awesome!!

That's it for me, 4 shows in this tour. Thanks PJ, it was a great run... Oceans will be for a next show!!! ;)

Hey, congrats on the Lottery! I agree with you about the energy the band has given us. Couldn't have asked for more!
Toronto 1 was fun--- glad you had fun for your next two shows :D

I saw the dude wearing the 'matt fucking cameron' shirt as well. Thanks for the info, I wondered what Matt gave him after the show.

Great show from a great band!

I just uploaded this. From my best guess, Smile was the option, since it's in parenthesis and wasn't played. ...also no Indiff, because it was replaced with Come Back.

I'm actually OK with both of those changes. Come Back is beautiful song and, while I would have LOVED Indifference, the dedication made it very worthwhile.
Smile would have been nice as well, but Off He Goes is a great live track

I think the rocker was Why Go. Off he goes was an additional.
Mike gave this to this lady who was row 1. If you read this thanks for the pic and glad i could help you out with the K plectrum.
