What a fun tune... plus it has a sound like it comes from UNDONE - I love it!
Rock on Pearl Jam!!! THANKS for the new tune!
I love Mike's shredding, Jeff's bassline, Stone's grove and the backing vocals are sick!!!
Thank you for starting a thread here for appreciation and gratitude.
That's exactly what I thought when I heard the chorus.
I dig it - and classic Matt odd-time pattern in the bridge makes it even more tasty!
Osaka, Japan (2/21/95), San Diego (7/10/98), Las Vegas (10/22/00), San Diego (10/25/00), Las Vegas (6/6/03), Las Vegas (7/6/06), Los Angeles (7/9/06), VH1 Rock Honors (7/12/08), Ed Solo (7/8/11), Ed Solo (11/1/12), Los Angeles (11/23/13)
I love the way Ed sings the word in a variety of different ways. I can also imagine more/new lyrics being added when appropriate, Do The Evolution style.
Like a cloud dropping rain
I'm discarding all thought
I'll dry up, leaving puddles on the ground
I'm like an opening band for the sun
Love the new song and love that Pearl Jam continues to try and reinvent itself. Thank you PJ for not listening to the morons who think every sogn and album should keep sounding like Ten...... Trying new sounds, experimenting and continually... evloving.... is how a band sticks around 20 years, stays semi-relevant and puts 30,000 people into an ampitheater to celebrate said 20 years. Staying stagnant and trying to recreate the same sound over and over again gets you playing at the side stage at the state fair like Quiot Riot...... Those who hate it, enjoy your next Quiot Riot show, those who loved it, kudos to you for having an open mind and for being excited that PJ continues to evolve which will help them stick around and allow them to continue to play those amazing sold out shows in arenas near you! Please note this does not mean you "have" to like the song, if you don;t like just because you don;t like it, that is fine, but in different message boards TONS of the complaints are accompanied by something to the effect that "it doesn't sound like the old PJ" and that is where my statements are directed for clraification....

Absolutely love it. Think it's gonna be a grower for some. Took me a few listens to hear everything. But it rocks like a mutha, has killer changes and I love the lyrics. Gonna be amazing live, too.
How does anybody NOT like a rockin punk song like Ole?? LOVE IT

i never said thank you so don't say your welcome. my dvr shit the bed as well so i went to fallons website and watched this first thing this morning. I considered everyone else wasn't a retard and did the same thing so didn't post it here.
Its like when someone posts the new pj20 link that is released every day here. Uh.. .no shit. Your not special because your the first to cut n paste. This is a pearl jam fan board. Its one thing if an article comes out of nowhere that is posted on the web in the middle of a down time for the band. Its great that you can find it here.
But come on... we are in the middle of pj20 there is a website that releases a new link every day. Do we really all have to race to be the first to post it here? we are all checking it. Everyone is checking Fallon's late night website. You are not welcome.
Who shit in your cereal?

I was able to listen to it hear at work with headphones on. I love it. I've been listening to it nonstop. Can't wait to go home and see them preform it live.

...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
I was absolutely floored when I first heard it, mainly because I was baked out of my mind though. The whole fallon show was a great surprise to say the least. I wasn't expecting much honestly turning it on. Pearl jam usually does crappy performances on talk shows. Eddie always looks like he doesn't want to be there on TV. But last night was epic. The moment Fallon said "we have a small musical guest tonight, no biggee you may have heard of em... PEARL JAM!" and the audience went crazy loud, I knew it was gonna be a great show. He couldn't stop talking about PJ during the show. Its like the entire episode was dedicated to them. Eddie coming out to do "balls in your mouth" was something they would've NEVER done even a few years ago. That was totally and completely left field. But you know what, it was HILARIOUS. Something that they need. Then when Cameron Crowe came out they started talking about how a PJ show is like no other band. That really got me going. Of course the eddie and kurt thing was great to see as well. Oh and the book Fallon was showing off, you could tell he loved the book. (and giving it away for free was incredible on the shows and PJ's part)
and then when things couldn't possibly get any better, they played a new song which was absolutely incredible. Ole is such a breath of fresh air to me. Backspacer was catchy as hell, but some of it was a tad "forced". This isn't at all. Oh and then he said it will be online to download for free.
PJ, you completely restored my faith in your band. I haven't been excited about PJ in awhile.
OH
and could you tell
that Jimmy
is a HUGE
PJ fan or what?
When he was talking about that footage of Eddie and Kurt I could have imagined myself or any one of us with that same look on our face and our hand over our hearts as well
You go Fallon!
And Ole...I have to say when I hear a lot of PJ's new songs lately (Backspacer), as opposed to earlier on when they hit like a ton of bricks, it takes a few listens to really get to lovin' it...and especially when you see it on TV, the sound quality is just not usually there, but THIS...THIS is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!
Can't wait to see it live and in person!
And can't wait to hear more
Let's start a guess the date of the new album tour in 2012 for the US I go with May/June NYC/Philly area.
peace,

Interesting - I just listened to Olé from the YouTube video posted on the official PJ page, and it sounds like a different mix than the free mp3 download from the PJ20 countdown page...a lot more low end. I wonder if it's because the free mp3 is compressed, and maybe the audio track of the Youtube video was taken from a wav or higher quality file. Thoughts?

Right?! Fallon didn't just do some homework, he's been a big fan and it showed! His excitement made me enjoy their two nights even more. I love that he's had Tres Mts and Pearl Jam on, and that he loves this band as much as we do.
I really think this would have been awesome as part of a holiday single. this and of the earth (live or studio). a new studio track on vinyl would have been one helluva surprise.
