So friend and I are heading up a few days early and taking in Banff ... anyone care to comment on what to do / what not to do?
Places to go and stay?
Thanks!
The town itself is a cool place to hang out, browse around, lunch, dinner, drinks etc.
Not sure what your hotel budget is, but there are many decent places to stay,... one question is whether you want to be right in the town, near pubs and restaurants, or short walk or shuttle away.
Nice ($$) Hotels would be Banff Springs, Rimrock, Delta Banff. I think the Banff Park Lodge offers good value, some rooms a little dated,... but a great location. Stay away from Brewsters or The Mount Royal if you want a good sleep.
For food, we like The Balkan, Saltlik, Georgios,..and Melissa's for breakfast (a must). Then a Pint or Scotch at St. James Gate or The Rose and Crown.
If the mountains are something you rarely see, the Gondola is a must do,..unmatched views. Check out the Bow River falls, the Banff Springs Hotel, Cave and Basin etc. Grab a park map, if you a driving, lots of sight seeing to do. Lake Louise is approx an hour drive west ( or a little less),... beautiful place to see. Mountain lakes are popular out here,..I'll recommend another, Peyto Lake,..15 mins north on Icefields Parkway from Lake Louise.

My BF went to Banff and hated it, but I think because he went in the in-between of winter and summer, so you couldn't take in the mountains by sight or by snowboard. I personally love Banff its so gorgeous and am convinced if he went at a different time (with different people) he would have loved it.
I'm not sure how it will be in September but probably still very nice.
And yes, the mountains out here in the west ARE the best. It's the first thing I embrace when I fly home from anywhere.
Calgary here I come
number I can't remember, something around 29xxxx I am to lazy to check out

all great ideas...
Most of the hotels are decent but wife of Muddy loves the rimrock... Banff springs is amazing but rooms can be real real small...real small ...
Also everything is a $5 cab ride so dont worry about driving while there... beer at the rose and crown is always a good idea. Sulfer mountain gondala is a must as stated above ... real cool.
Ask the locals in Banff what is happening, most of them are great and will help you out..
have fun

I'm in 372 XXX...I'm 6"6', but wife isn't as tall so may be looking to trade tix at the preshow party/fundraiser if we get floor seats that aren't of the lottery nature.

I will have an extra fan club ticket for Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. My member number is 165xxx. The ticket price is face value. Please pm if interested.
So i'm still stuck on whether or not to take the 3pm flight or miss class and get there with lots of time to spare.
According to the calgary transit site it will take me an hour to get to the Saddledome... which means my flight would not be able to be delayed at all plus I'd have to catch the bus right away (which might work since i'd only be doing carry-on anyways)
there's 6 seats left on the 3pm flight... so i'd have to make a decision today!! :?
I just booked my Calgary flight and I am now seeking an extra. I have an extra Ten Club ticket to Edmonton & Winnipeg if that helps.

Got my tix, will probably be heading to the theater directly from the airport.

Hey all, looks like I will have my pair of 10C tickets available for this show. Not a great number but likely better seats than any ticketmaster ones. Face value, PM me if interested.
UPDATE: Tix no longer available.

:( I'm torn - I was just offered my dream job in Vancouver but for training purposes I need to be in Toronto on Monday, September 26th 9am. I have 2 tickets to the Vancouver show on Sunday night but I'd have to leave the show early to make the very last flight (11:15pm) to TO :( :(
My only option is to see them in Calgary the week before so if anyone has tickets to the show on Wed the 21st please please let me know!!!! Thanks in advance!

Take the dream job! That is a NO BRAINER!
Pearl Jam is just a band and they will be back (it's not like you live in the South! )
A lot of people fail to realise that they are just a band and your life should first and foremost be your number one priority... It's sad the things people turn down in the name of seeing a tour :?
Go to the show in Calgary there will be lots of tickets available trust me. At the moment I may have a spare but I am waiting on who will be my ticket buddy for the 21st ...Regardless there are always tickets for shows just go and you will find one
PS... There is a seat sale for Air Canada right now to Calgary (at least for another hour anyways) and I think there is one for Westjet as well... I had to book a 2:00 flight with AC but got a little bit of a discount, there were cheaper ones I just had no choice because I wanted to make class at SFU before I left. It's a good time to get plane tickets for the show on the 21st

I agree,..or else we'd all be in the first 6 or 7 rows,..approx 45 seats across each row.
