On paper, the deal doesn't look too bad. Beltran is having a great year, he wants to contend, but I cringe thinking about his knees. I don't want to see him trot out there on busted knees like Bochy and his poor, busted knees. One year deal, and shoot for the moon to get Fielder in Orange!

We get "El Batador" for a damn good pitching prospect. I guess I can like that. Beltran can do some serious damage in triples alley. I can only hope the Phillies don't make any moves.

Good to see we can win one in Philly, now to win the series tomorrow! :)

At this point I'm more concerned with the Braves in a possible NLDS rematch than the Phillies. Our pitchers just know how to deal with the Phillies hitters. From the starters to the bullpen. Guys like Utley and Howard don't even scare me anymore. Werth was the one guy I feared last October and he's obviously gone. They still have the pitching to beat us in the NLCS. But if they do it will be a 6 or 7 game grudge match with virtually every game being a 3-2 type pitching duel. The Braves on the other hand really put it to us in April. Not to mention they gave us our toughest series last October. If it wasn't for a certain second baseman who couldn't field routine grounders we may not have gotten out of the 1st round.

I agree 100%! Giants pitching owns everyone, yes everyone! I'm a believer that we can beat anyone in a 7 game series. The torturous way we score runs scares me but we have the best bullpen in baseball and arguably (not really an argument) the best starting staff in baseball! Cain and Lincecum pitched in this series like they were in the NLCS again, very impressive! The Phillies are hurt, the Braves are hurt. We are without Posey and Sanchez for the year. I guess we just have to wait and see where everyone is in Sept/Oct.

    Go Giants!

Beltran's biggest contribution was a scary sliding catch in right field on a Jimmy Rollins blooper that helped Tim Lincecum blank the Phillies on three hits for six innings. A lot of hearts stopped when the brace that supports Beltran's arthritic right knee caught the grass and he tumbled forward, leaving a long divot in the grass.

Manager Bruce Bochy admitted he thought the worst. So did Huff, who told himself, "No, he didn't blow out on the first day."

  given the shit we've endured over the years, it wouldn't have surprised me.
