Eddie Vedder Meet and Greet Experiences

Vedart wrote:Got to see him three times. Never got an autograph. First time was in 2000 and my first Pearl Jam concert, though I had been a fan for years. Waited around with a group of fans that gathered not really knowing what to expect. He came out eventually shook hands and spoke briefly with people. I remember someone handing him a letter which he graciously read. I had opportunity to shake hands with him and all I could remember saying was "thank you for a beautiful show Mr. Vedder." Second time was after the first Chicago solo show in 2008. Again he worked his way through small group of fans that gathered and held conversations with some. I handed to his security guy a bunch of pictures (hoping maybe he would sign). Third time was after the benefit concert in Little Rock for Memphis 3 in 2010. For me personally this was the best because he went through group that gathered and gave us handshakes, hugs and talked at length with everyone. Snuck in some pics of the event. I know a lot of others had too.
I know the waiting around may seem silly to do. But I think it was worth it. Half the fun was meeting other fans who had the same passion for music. The time waited seemed a trifle.
Nice work my friend, I would love to hang out with Ed for a few more minutes but boy, do I feel like I got a monkey off my bACK.0 -

That's what she said.
How tall would you say he is? I heard 5'5" and a max 5'6".
I would say 5'6. Now I am only 5'9 but not only was Ed short but small in stature, almost petite. I know I could take him.John and Shawna0 -

I guess I don't get the discussion on stature :?
unless we speak of his importance achieved from his creative abilities.
His talent unmeasurable, his spirit larger than life, his essence... his soul... powerful.0 -

Absolutely amazing, Wow three times. I know how much $$ I had to shell out for my one experience so I know what an investment this all had to be for you. Don't get me wrong now that my three back surgeries are behind me now and my wife's surgeries are done. We'll definitely be saving our monies through the years to try and have this experience again. We are going to the PJ20 concert but I highly doubt their will be a meet and greet at that venue. Well I hope the Rock Gods continue to smile upon you in the future.

Thanks! You too! Actually, there wasn't so much extra expense involved (as I recall tickets for benefit were only $25) as perseverence. Regards!

I would really really love to have a beer with Ed. Maybe 3 if he has time but of course he doesn't. I think he would be a cool person to have a conversation with.
I did wait for Ed after Beacon 1 (I think it ended up being a 2.5 hour wait). He was very calm and zen-like when he came out, taking his time to shake hands and make eye contact. I was one of the lucky ones who actually got to shake his hand, it wasn't one of those okay I've touched your hand, next hand please. He really gripped it, and it was almost like a lingering hand-hold. Ed's got soft hands, as others have mentioned.
I wish I had written a short note that I could have handed to him, my reason for meeting him is I just really wanted him to know how much he's touched my life but I was so star-struck (plus there all these screaming people around me) that I think all I could manage was squeak out a "thank you" which I hope he heard.
An autograph/pic etc would be great but I don't really care about those things.
I briefly noticed how "small" he was but quickly forgot; there's nothing small about that man.0 -

TJ25487 wrote:Pandora, thanks for the wake up call. My wife just chastized me for picking on Ed's height as Ed would not appreciate it. I think I only mentioned it as a sidebar to his importance and creativity as you mentioned above. It was just a noticeable contrast after years of idolization but I assure you after meeting him my level of idolization has only been increased.
I know being up close at a concert more than took my breath away and was a spiritual moment for me,
one I will keep with me forever.
So very glad you got to meet him and can cherish that memory0 -
When The Who played Seattle, I had "traveling" friends who hung out in the hotel bar with band members and entourage, and Eddie was there too. My friends viewed him as just another fan, and they pretty much left him alone. However, knowing how much I liked PJ, my friends called my house in Denver about 1 a.m. with the idea Eddie would say hi to me. My son answered the phone and said he didn't think I wanted to be awakened.
A few days later they saw him again outside the venue for Roger Waters and they joked that he was stalking them!
FYI Roger Daltrey (Whom I've met) is about 5' 6" too.Charles

Best guess for Eddie Vedder Height is 5' 7"Here's another one. My wife is 5'4", she thinks that Eddie is about the same height as her. I think it was really really close but no cigar. I do hope the truth is revealed one day.

His talent unmeasurable, his spirit larger than life, his essence... his soul... powerful., the donations to org. you know have affected and changed so many peoples lives  . He is a inspiration to so many people and is truly loved by so many. I hope one day he gets the recognition he genuinely deserves.

Well it sounds like money well spent. We live in AZ. and the last time Pearl Jam came here was around 8 years ago
. Eddie said he had had a slight case of heat stroke
. It was amazing that he stayed and performed
. Although due to how he was feeling many of the great finale encores were skipped  . Songs like Yellow L., Crazy Mary, Rockin ITFW. We don't think they will be traveling back here anytime soon so where ever they tour we will most likely have some major travel expenses but well worth every penny spent. Hope you have a great day.
