I fully endorse this effort. My traveling ability has been severely limited by having coronary by-pass a week ago yesterday. I really glad that I did not invest or really plan on being at PJ20.

Did any of you participate in the recent Wilco ticket sales?

I got orchestra tickets for both Atlanta shows! :D

Just wanted to give some love to a great touring band who tours the USAmerica South.

I don't think I have ever heard a Wilco song before - who would you compare them to?

I'm guessing you're asking who they sound similar to. It's tough to group them, but I could tell you a few of their influences:

    Neil Young
    Television
    Nick Lowe
    Brian Wilson/Beach Boys
    Big Star
    The Band

As for productivity, live show, high quality of output, I would compare them favorably with PJ. A different angle on rock music, but also quite a few common threads.

You will dig them, if you'll give them a chance.

Cool - which album do you recommend to start off with? Do they have anything new out?

New LP, The Whole Love, comes out September 27. Hence the tour.

If you want a career overview through their first five records, try Kicking Television: Live in Chicago.

My favorite records are Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and A Ghost is Born.

Ashes of American Flags is a really enjoyable dvd. I Am Trying to Break Your Heart is a doco about the making (& marketing) of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. If you get into that album, find IATTBYH.

Leon County Library has a lot of their material, if you're looking to sample w/out buying. It's where my wife and I do some of our record shopping.

I managed to score Row D tickets to Wilco at Massey Hall on September 16th in Toronto! Super stoked!

That's going to be a fun week, 4 pearl jam shows and a Wilco show to top it off... and the Wilco tickets are killer.

Roger - I definitely recommend Kicking Television to start... that was how I got into them... now I am a super massive fan... Just bought I am Trying to Break Your Heart on DVD... can't wait to sit down and watch it...

Just a piece of advice... the studio recordings are much much mellower than how they play everything live... it's like 2 different bands....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

especially true of the earliest records

I put on Being There yesterday and it felt a little empty, knowing how they deliver those songs in concert.

Congrats on your Massey Hall tickets! September will be amazing for you & me re: PJ & Wilco.
