When I first wrote this post I was just trying to vent a little, now it feels like many of us are all in agreement. Not sure if it will catch on, but after 1000 plus views, this is obviously a topic fans really care about. Check out the Seat it Forward program idea I have been mulling around. Feel free to add to it, after all this can be a collective effort. Or make it funny, i really don't care. Either way its another chance for all of us to get to know one another, and give everyone a chance to give feedback. If this gets solid feedback then we can post this as a seperate topic on The Porch. Just to see if it can gain any steam.

    Thanks again for reading.

10 club Fan Seat it Forward program:

    Not mandatory, but definitely encouraged.

    What the hell is this?
Do you remember the first time you had awesome seats at a PJ show? Remember how that show changed your life? Or maybe you have always had great seats to a PJ show. Now is your chance to give back. Have you seen every PJ/EV show from rows 1-20 on the floor since 1996? Trade your seats with other 10 club fans that have different seats the night of the show. Just trade them their ten club seats for yours. Seat it forward.

    Why?
Because there is nothing better than watching fellow clubbers getting to check out their favorite band up close and personal. Not only that, but you will get to hang out with different PJ fans in different sections, and create new friendships that otherwise would have never been. Who knows, you made trade your awesome seats to your future girlfriend/boyfriend, or wife/husband. Those people will remember you and your act of kindness forever. Plus you may find the best "pass the joint" section ever!

    Whats the point of this?
To give everyone a taste of the wine bottle that goes around one 10 club fan at a time. Great seats are great, but great fans is what seperates us from all the others.

    Whats the catch?
No catch, just good karma, and giving a non suspecting 10 club fan a better Pearl Jam concert experience. Plus instead of bragging about how rad YOUR seats were, you can brag about how you made SOMEONE else's seats 10 times better. Lets be honest, there isn't a bad 10 club seat.

Be a better person, a better fan, Seat it forward.

What a great post and how nice of you to trade tickets with the dad and son. And love your comment above - cracks me up. But sometimes rock concert = zoo hehehe at least from what I've seen!

Last time I checked it was a Pearl Jam fan club not an Eddie Vedder fan club...

WE're lucky with what we get... however I would appreciate my ukulele stuff :)

this is a ridiculous statement, for a couple reasons... (a) eddie vedder fans exist because of pearl jam, and (b) we all bought our eddie vedder tickets through the pearl jam fan club (meaning eddie is very aware of my first point). and just to reiterate, i totally agree with the original post.

I agreed with the op too... that's what I was trying to say... if you liked 'take that' does that mean you should automatically get fanclub tickets and other stuff to see Robbie WIlliams? no...

ANd some, not all of EV fans exist because of PJ... I went to see EV with people who would not see PJ? These fans existed because of ITTW

Take it or leave it, or don't read it, but I gotta say something.....

I was at the Santa Barbara show on saturday. When i got to the 10 club box office to pick up my tix, I over heard a bunch of fellow clubbers complaining about how they got screwed on their seats, and how their seats weren't on the floor section, but were located in the mid section of the bowl. Once i picked up my tixs, I went to look at the seating map to see where i was sitting (section U), I had all these clubbers start flocking over me trying to scope out where my tickets were located, and trying to trade me to get closer. The worst was that I over heard some clubbers that were so pissed off that someone with a higher club number had better seats than (gasp!) them.

Seriously...why are we all in this club? I am in this club cause I love this band, and it allows me to get tickets to pretty much any show I can afford to go to. Great seats are a bonus, but honestly, all I care about is being able to see my favorite band. Fuck the seats, it the experience is what matters to me. Too much of a good thing can lead to some taking such a great thing for granted. I think that we forget about how awesome and lucky we actually have it. Honestly, some of you are getting a little too elitist into believing you are OWED certain seats. Some of you have been in the club for so long that the first fan club letters were written on Papyrus, which is great. But for fuck sake, stop acting like you are 12yrs old when it comes to your seats.

Senority is important, I understand that. But when I overheard some clubbers in line for a beer complaining about being in the 12th row from the stage at the Santa Barbara Bowl. I just about lost it. Everyone wants to be close, and everyone should get to experience being up close at a show. So with that in mind, I over heard a dad and his son talking about how their seats were up high at the SB bowl. So I traded them my 14th row seats for their nose bleed seats. Yep, just like that. (someone did the same for me during the 2000 tour in San Diego.) You would have thought that they won the lottery. I watched them walk down section by section till they finally got to their seats. They had the biggest smiles, and were totally pumped for the show. As for me, I had a blast up at the top. Great people, and an even greater appreciation for the venue, SB Bowl is by far one of the all time best concert venue to see EV/PJ at. There is not a bad seat in the house.

So in closing, stop all the complaining, and do yourself a favor and pay it forward to those that don't have it as good as you do. Remember why joined this club in the first place. Be happy with where your seats are. I promise this is the last post I will make for another 3 years.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    D

PS- put your phone/camera down, this is a rock concert not a zoo.

This whole forum should be called "Wine and Cheese". It's all it is anymore. No matter what is announced, this forum turns into a cry fest. It's pretty disturbing actually.

i agree ... we all knew that EV tickets would be random ... so, really it's entitlement issues ... i have a good number and am used to being close ... i sat in the upper balcony midway at the beacon ... my eyes suck so i miss out on the nuances ... but was just happy to be in the building ...

Concidering I am a short person,
and during every PEARL JAM concert I have been to,
I NEVER get to SEE the members of PEARL JAM............ I can never get close enough or even see.
but I CAN hear them  8-)

therefore I have no resonable suggestion about seating to bring to this debate...........

    so.....................
    carry on. :D

( P.s. Atleast thier in the same country as you)

funny thing is, THEY KNEW that 10c tickets were not assigned based on number and that they would be spread around the venue BEFORE they clicked buy.

I have a friend who has been a huge Pearl Jam fan since they first came out. But for various reasons, be they financial or family or whatever he has never had the chance to see them in concert before EVER. I was one of the lucky ones to get RES/GA tickets for the PJ20 show. So when I actually was able to get them the first call I made was to him and i invited him to partake in my guest ticket. He is only able to go to one night but I told him he could come the night I have reserve seats. For his sake I hope they are good ones as I really want his first concert to be great! Taking someone to their first PJ show is always a highlight for me, I've done it 3 other times and the way those people just get hooked on them after a show is amazing. This guy is already a fan but we all know what a live show does, it's like your fandom gets turboboosted. Anyway totally psyched for the show. I am hoping my taking this guy to the show is sort of like paying it forward, but I like your idea as well!!
