I don't know about you guys but Obama is such a disappointment. Is he a Republican? Seriously, he just keeps caving in on everything. Now he's talking about cutting SS. He can make a ballsy call to go get Bin Laden but doesn't have the balls to stand up to Boehner and the Republican party.

he is spineless. he has compromised on everything. this is not a time for compromise. where is the fighter that he said he was going to be? people keep saying he is setting things up for his second term but if he cuts s.s. and medicare he is going to lose his ass.

i have never seen a president so controlled by the minority party.

if he is going down he should go down swinging pushing his agenda and calling the republicans' bluff. i could respect him if he did that. but he won't, so i don't respect him as a leader.

with mounting debt, and a program that has been borrowed from and now is needing to cash in those iou's what more can he do? these programs do need to be changed...they cannot sustain...at least social security cannot remain the same and still be there for people in the future.

We really are in a crisis and people need to compromise to get things done...and not simply to solve this issues present day, but to try to do it so that future issues can be taken care of...I don't know about you, but I don't think there is an easy solution...hard choices and politically unpopular choices need to be made on Both sides of the aisle for this issue to be solved(which probably includes some form of tax reform as well)...and some compromise on one side will hopefully lead to compromise on the other...I probably won't defend his policies very much, but I give him credit here...if he truly is willing to change those programs, it flies in the face of typical political thought. He is taking on two huge entitlements that people feel strongly about and knows it may hurt him politically but that it is the right decision to make. Seems like he has balls, just not the kind you want...

what you would have him do?

I think the biggest disappointment is that so many people gave him the benefit of the doubt in the first place. You'd have thought it was the second coming on election night in this place....any centrist, career politician, 'leading' a disinterested population, is only going to play shell games...

i think he's done alright...he's caved on some stuff but these budget cuts and possible tax increases are what will make or break his term imo. if he comes out of this with decent budget cuts and getting rid of the bush tax cuts i think he's in for another term.

Disagree. He has us in a third war now. At least Bush got Congressional approval.

obama has no say when it comes to the military industrial complex ... and please - don't bring bush into this ... this thread was fine without including the worst president ever ... the man lied to take the country to war ... that is about as disgraceful an act a president could commit ...

I love how people are comparing this thing in Libya to what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan - calling it our 3rd war when we really aren't even doing much and never really were when it started. NATO is flying all these missions. I don't remember the US Army and Marines flooding across the Libyan border from Egypt or wherever and wiping out the Libyan army in a matter of two weeks. There are no US troops on the ground.

Um, the United Nations also approved the action, unlike Iraq.

I am not the biggest fan of Obama, but I'd hardly call him a Cheney. ;)
