Did anyone pick up any extra Minneapolis posters for other 10C members?
I'll buy one. Looks great!
PM me.

I was at the STL show the night before, and my opinion is that the crowd was much more respectful at the STL show (I'm from MN so I'm bummed about that) as well as a higher energy crowd. That being said, I still enjoyed the MPLS show just as much. We ended up row Q on the Main Floor with my 10C tickets so the seats were decent. Long Road and The End were 2 songs on my "list" that I wanted to see live so I was happy he played those. LBC was another treat to hear as well as Dead Man and Hide Your Love Away. I hope Eddie and/or the whole band come back to MN soon! Now the wait for Alpine Valley continues...1998-06-30 Mpls | 2006-07-06 Las Vegas

Remarkable. My first Ed solo show, so I can't compare it to others, but this one was great. Off He Goes, LBC, Society, a fantastic Can't Keep (highly underrated in any format). Goodbye and Just Breathe were beautiful. Porch was a huge sing-along - cathartic.
I thought the crowd was fantastic, except for the guy who yelled out "It's about you!" after Off He Goes. Really, dude?
Just one question, and I'm sure it's been asked and answered before: what's with the lab coats?
Thanks Ed and Glen for a fabulous night.0 -
Wouldn't it be awesome if Ed released a box set of boots from every show on this tour?? I would love to have every show, since there were different songs performed and so many great stories. Fingers crossed that this happens!!!"A beacon on dry land"0

who_me13 wrote:He told a story right before Rise about how when he was doing music for Into the Wild, he got some mandolins from a music shop in Seattle to test out sounds for the movie. He got interrupted by a screamer who wanted to know what kind of mandolin he had. EV replied that info was in the playbill and he should check it out. Drunken screamer still wanted him to say what kind, so Ed finally said, "okay, looks like it's time for me to take control back again so I'm gonna tell you to fuck off." Said something about how he learned how to do that from Sean Penn.
The screamer didn't say anything about the Mandolin, the idiot was yelling about Sean Penn and Haiti. He yelled earlier as well when Ed talked about Sean getting him to do do the music for ITW and then intro'd Bill Pohlad. The guy was annoying, he kept yelling about " not waiting 3 days" at the start of the show. I think he got kicked out after Ed told him to fuck off or he finally realized no one paid to hear his idiotic yells and shut up.0 -
Fantastic night. Ed really brought it, yeah he fucked up at the start but that's part of the whole experience in my opinion. Thought the crowd was great, nice job Mpls, many standing ovations (well deserved btw!!). Off He Goes, Far Behind, Love Boat Captain (enough said)....but Falling Slowly w/ Glen was unreal. In two words, totally awesome
! Can't wait for Toronto.

All I can say is wow!
Awesome show all around. Crowd was definitely into and I thought all of the stupidity kind of stopped after the one guy got the verbal thrashing.
Having no familiarity with Glen, I was very impressed by his set as well as by the songs he and Ed did together.
The uke songs were a good way to kind of ease into the show and the live versions do them more justice than the album versions. All of the ITW songs were excellent also, particularly Rise and Hard Sun. Arc was also unbelievable.
My fiance had asked me before the show which songs I wanted to hear. I told her I had a couple but don't think about it too much so as to not be somehow disappointed. I told her one of them we probably wouldn't get because he had just played it the night before in STL. Wrong, he pulled out Wishlist. Very nice. Then he pulled out Long Road. All expectations met! But when he started on LBC, holy moly. Never even crossed my mind that he would treat us to that! He could have walked off after that and I would not have complained for one second.
It was also good to see some old friends at the preparty (hi Jen!) and meet some new ones, too!
Awesome show, awesome night! Thanks Ed!

Great show. It was my second time seeing Ed solo and his talent is just unreal. Other than the one yelling incident, the crowd was really good. Both Ed and Glen seemed really appreciative. Great show!0
-
Solid Set after a hot night in St. Louis!
Surprised no one stood up during Unthought Known and I thought the crowd totally missed the sing along at the end of Long Road. LBC and Dead Man made my night!0 -
Great show. Surprised at no Dylan covers, but I can't complain when we got "Dead Man" and "Love Boat Captain." "Hide Your Love Away" was pretty awesome too.
Pretty awesome energy and I really hope Ed/PJ tour MN for 3 straight weeks (as suggested by Ed mid-show).
The poster looks great. The sound was incredible and Ed's voice sounds great too.

It was amazing. "Falling Slowly" had a certain energy and anticipation as it went on...that is why we go to concerts. You can't get that from listening to a recording. I've never felt an energy in a room like that before, it resonates.
Eddie is a flat out great performer. He's so talented, but has that ability to relate to the crowd, no arrogance. If there's any arrogance, its from the dumbasses who yell out stupid shit that isn't needed. Ed's so good he takes it in stride, or tells them to "fuck off." Classic. Thought our crowd was pretty good for the most part though, very appreciative. Glen is big time, as good as all the other reviews I've read. I just hope we can get access to the bootleg.VA Beach 8/3/00, Council Bluffs 6/13/03, St. Paul 6/16/03, East Troy 6/21/03, The Gorge 7/22/06, 7/23/06, Chicago 8/23/09, KC 5/3/10, St. Louis 5/4/10, Dublin 6/22/10, Belfast 6/23/10, London 6/25/10, EV Minneapolis 7/2/11, EV Tulsa 11/18/12, Chicago 7/19/13, OKC 11/16/13, Phoenix 11/19/13, Pemberton 7/17/16, Missoula 8/13/18, San Diego 5/3/22, Denver 9/22/22, Sacramento 5/13/24, LA 5/21/240 -

made the trip down from Winnipeg with my wife (our 7th anniversary June 30). absolutely awesome show. too bad halfway through the guy behind me spilled his entire glass of red wine all over the new tan coloured shirt and shorts I bought just a few short hours previous.......a few droplets also landed on my poster (on the back of it, thank GOD) and on my tan coloured uke shirt. DAMMIT.
AND I forgot to buy the playing cards! if they even had any!
But Glen was unbelievable. Never had heard of him before this really, and he blew me away. I have NEVER seen, nor given, any opening act a standing O, and this guy got more than one I recall! he was incredible!
And hearing Arc for the second time live made me speechless once again.Gimli 1993

it was all dark during Arc. can anyone shed some light on how he sang this on this tour? it sounded like many voices. he didn't use backing tracks of his own harmonies, did he?Gimli 1993

I am sure someone could tell you exact details
but he has something that Records and Loops what he sings . and he keeps repeating the process .
something like that .
If you watched "water on the road" you see he stands up at the end of ARC and Arc is still going .
When i seen him on 09' he ran whatever it was " Little hand held thing / Looked like a Big pager" . i see now at the 2011 shows and that DVD they must be doing it for him now .0 -

I had a feeling it was a little device like that. A buddy of mine who's a musician plays solo live but some of his songs sound like a full band because of that. And I haven't seen WOTR yet........still waiting.Gimli 1993

MN show was good.... but Eddie messed up the lyrics to several Uke songs, also messed up lyrics in "Rise", "Wishlist" and goofed up "The End" a bit. I was at the 2nd night in Chicago and Eddie's energy in Chicago was evident, comparitively it sort of felt like he was going through the motions in MN. I know Chicago is a special place for him so maybe I was expecting too much from the MN show but he seemed labored in MN, not like Chicago, completely different vibe from him between the two nights. I also thought the flow of songs in Chicago was alot better. MN show was harder to get into. In ChiTown he'd build to an epic climax then would punctuate it with another epic song. The way he built up from Just Breathe, to Unthought Known to Porch in the first set of the 2nd night in Chicago was just unbelieveable, then in the first encore the way he built on "Let My love Open the Door" to "Rockin in a free world" just left everyone in a frenzy. Comparitively in MN he got people started up a little with Unthought Known but then brought them right back down with "The End" and then left the stage. Then in the encore the crowd was so amped for Porch and was primed for one more great one to send off the 2nd encore but were not rewarded for their support. I also thought there were a hadnfull of dbags in the audience in MN that we did not experience in ChiTown (the Sean Penn critic wasn't the only annoying audience member in MN).
On the positive side so you know I am not a negative nelly, "Love Boat Captain" was amazing and regardless of why it was played it was wonderful to hear him sing "Long Road". Also, whe he and Glen sing "Falling Slowly" it just doesn't get much better than that. Also I thought Glen's set in MN was magnificent. "Hard Sun" is also a great 2nd encore song, just fantastic. Also, these shows have me completely pumped for Labor Day weekend, can't wait!R and R Station - Mar 26, 1992 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Aug 29, 1992 ** Summerfest Milw - Jul 08, 1995 ** Summerfest Milw - Jul 09, 1995 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Jun 26, 1998 ** ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre (E.V. at Tibetan Freedom Concert) - Jun 13, 1999 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Oct 08, 2000 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Jun 21, 2003 ** United Center - May 16, 2006 ** Summerfest - Jun 30, 2006 ** Riverside Theatre Milw (Eddie Solo Tour) - 2008 ** United Center - Aug 23, 2009 ** The Chicago Theatre (Eddie Solo Tour) - Jun 29, 2011 ** Orpheum Theatre MN (Eddie Solo Tour) - July 2, 2011 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Sep 03, 2011 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Sep 04, 20110
