If PJ plays here next year and you want to tailgate, you'll have to shell out some more money because today starts the day when everything goes up, including a 20% tax hike on alcohol.Shows: 6.27.08 Hartford, CT/5.15.10 Hartford, CT/6.18.2011 Hartford, CT (EV Solo)/10.19.13 Brooklyn/10.25.13 Hartford

On a lighter note - you wont go to jail for toking up while tailgating...they'll just take your stash and give you a fine...and you can proceed to the concert
• Marijuana decriminalization: Penalties are reduced for possession of less than one half ounce of marijuana from a possible prison sentence to a $150 fine for a first offense and a $200 to $500 fine for subsequent offenses. Three-time violators must participate in a drug education program. Certain actions involving drug paraphernalia also are reduced from a crime to an infraction. (Effective today)
But...dont get a DUI...
• Ignition interlock: Reduces time period of license suspension for first and second conviction for driving under the influence to 45 days, but requires as a condition of restoring license that offenders install an ignition interlock device, a sensor that prevents a drunken driver from starting a car. Prior law required use of the device for second offense only. (Effective Jan. 1, 2012)

Here in MA a couple years ago they added a sales tax to alcohol over and above the alcohol tax we were already paying. It got passed quickly through the legislature even though people said they didn't want it. They started a statewide petition to get a question on the ballot the following year to repeal it. They got enough signatures and it was on the ballot and the public voted the tax away. So now we don't pay sales tax for alcohol anymore. CT could do the same thing I imagine. Most independent liquor stores had the petition at each register for people to sign as they were reminded they were paying more for alcohol. He who forgets will be destined to remember.
