Koreatown - my wife is Japanese, and there are a few decent Korean and Japanese restaurants in the area, so we're all set. We're only staying the night, then headed home the following day.
I too am coming from Vegas and staying at the Garden Suites. Only 92.00 and free parking. The best part is it is only 50 steps from the Wiltern. Party time.
COOL! Maybe we can hook up for a beer or something!
Let's do it. There was also a thread a while back about finding a place to meet before/after the show but I don't think it went anywhere. Less than a month away. We better get on the stick.0 -

Wasn't me...I've never worn mine outside the house!
I would've, but after first wash, the neck stretched out to twice the size, and the whole shirt to about 2/3 the size! It's basically a sleep/lay around the house shirt now...Osaka, Japan (2/21/95), San Diego (7/10/98), Las Vegas (10/22/00), San Diego (10/25/00), Las Vegas (6/6/03), Las Vegas (7/6/06), Los Angeles (7/9/06), VH1 Rock Honors (7/12/08), Ed Solo (7/8/11), Ed Solo (11/1/12), Los Angeles (11/23/13)0 -
The Wiltern is my home away from home, I see so many shows there. They don't oversell it and they cap the general admission pit on sold out shows, and the sound is very good. Plus, if you're willing to stand in line you can usually get way up close.
Obviously, in seated shows that doesn't apply as much - unless the performer tells everyone to get out of their seats and come on down (like Chris Cornell did on his "Euphoria Morning" show), but there isn't a bad seat in the house.
I saw Eddie Vedder, Beck, and Mike Ness play a benefit there a decade or so ago from the very last row of the balcony, and I was completely engrossed in the entire show - never once did I lament my bad seat.
Plus, there's a Taco Bell right on the way back to the 101, which I've used for Fourthmeal more times than I can count. Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.0 -
i was there too with my buddy and we met a guy there that is today a tyt friend of mine. what a show. I think it was 9 years ago :?bburpee wrote:I saw Eddie Vedder, Beck, and Mike Ness play a benefit there a decade or so ago from the very last row of the balcony, and I was completely engrossed in the entire show - never once did I lament my bad seat.

was my first EV "solo" show.
i would say the dead man walking show was my first ev solo, but Jeff was there too
i think i remeber"touble: for the first time at the show you speak of0 -
Eddie had a mohawk and joined Mike Ness later (with Mike, I think)... and Beck played some of "Loser" on piano.
It was a great show, and I almost didn't get a seat. Hammered the scalpers outside all night and finally got one after I gave up and started walking back to my car.Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.0 -

Looking for a ticket for Wiltern show. Please let me know if you can help out. This is for a friend of mine who will be leaving USA soon and won't be able to see her favorite band and her favorite FRONTMAN for at least next two years. I am trying to help her out to have one last stint before she leaves the States for an overseas job. And no where she's going, the possibility of Pearl Jam having a show is pretty much zero.I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

Any word on a meet-up/pre-party yet?

There is a Ralph's Supermarket next to the venue. There are a few Permanent plastic dining tables outside....we can swig down a few 40s before the show.0 -
Fond memories of Cat Stevens covers, and asking Phil Jackson to smoke out with me from 2008. Enjoy.0

My wife and I will also be at the Garden Suites about noon time from Vegas. No big plans other than hooking up with a fellow jammer from SD. I am leary of any Korean BBQ though. I hope its not like the BBQ I had in Mexico a few years ago. It gave me Montezumas Revenge. Beware.0 -

LOL! We should carpool!
The kind of Korean BBQ we're looking for is like Japanese "Yakiniku" (my wife is Japanese). You basically order a platter with cuts of meat and veggies and usually grill it yourself on an open grill built into the table.
