So, me and some long time friends were able to get tickets and will be heading in from Texas. I was scoping out pics of the Wiltern. It looks amazing. Anyone been? Does it sound as good as it looks? Can't wait!

One of the best venues in town. Got tickets as well. See you there!

Yes! It is does sound as good as it looks. I saw Eddie Vedder when he played here in 2008 and it was amazing. I was lucky enough to score a pair of tickets for this show and am already counting down the days. You won't be disappointed. Safe travels.....

It is right in the middle of LA's bung-hole and sits there like a big green pollyp. The traffic is snarled and the area is ugly. I haven't been in that area since the last EV solo show. I got tickets so I'll be there again. The inside isn't as ugly as the outside. The sound is good. It is small so there aren't really any bad seats.

If you are traveling, I certainly wouldn't stay in that area. There are much better areas. Stay elsewhere, eat elsewhere and commute in for the show. Fortunately, the red-line, actually putrple-line subway has a station right by the Wiltern. Consider that.

I'm not sure what I would do in that area other than see a band I liked so much that I would go there.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

I saw Them Crooked Vultures there in 2009, great venue, one of the best I've been to. I'm going to the Long Beach show, might get tickets to the Wiltern last minute though too if I can find another friend who'd want to go.

Parking wise you'll have to park in a nearby structure most likely, it's not easy parking like the LA Live/Club Nokia/Nokia Theater area.

I've almost always been able to find street parking a block or two behind the venue.

Parking for the Wiltern is very easy. There is a parking structure right next to the venue; it's usually $15 or $20, but it's seriously adjacent to the building. It does sell out sometimes, though, so try not to get there to late if that's what you plan to do. I usually park at the top of the structure, go down a few flights of stairs, and I'm there.

I love the Wiltern. No, it's not in the prettiest area, but the venue is historic and the sound is great. Saw EV x2 there in 2008, and got tickets again for July. Can't fucking wait.

I was there for the first Ed April Fools show back in '08.
The sound inside that theater was great! :)

just saw that the Riverboat Gamblers are playing the Troubador the night before for any of you coming in for Ed's show, this would be a good appetiser.

I'm driving in from Vegas and staying at the Garden Suites Hotel right near the venue, so parking won't be an issue for me. This area is L.A. Koreatown - my wife is Japanese, and there are a few decent Korean and Japanese restaurants in the area, so we're all set. We're only staying the night, then headed home the following day.

I'm hoping to get tix for this concert since I missed out on the presale and Ticketmaster sale. If anyone knows of 2 extra tickets to this show please PM me! I'll be out there for my vacation that week and hoping to pick up tix to one of the So Cal shows.

the question is whether or not you will be able to find your car after the show or not

kidding! its in Korea town pretty much, but the area is always crowded, and depending on the time of day/night, it could get a little sketchy so be sure and keep your eyes and ears open at all times!

and most important- be careful not to get run over! this is not NYC or SF and drivers are generally shitty and road ragy all day everyday  and less walker friendly
  • I saw The Dead Weather at the Wiltern in 2009, such a great venue!

I cant wait to see Vedder there :)

    eat elsewhere

Would disagree with this completely. Get yourself some Korean BBQ and your overnight trip will be enhanced.

The best one in town is also probably the most expensive, but still in the same range as the others. Note the all you can eat places generally have garbage meat.

I too am coming from Vegas and staying at the Garden Suites. Only 92.00 and free parking. The best part is it is only 50 steps from the Wiltern. Party time.

Let's do it. There was also a thread a while back about finding a place to meet before/after the show but I don't think it went anywhere. Less than a month away. We better get on the stick.

Wasn't me...I've never worn mine outside the house!
I would've, but after first wash, the neck stretched out to twice the size, and the whole shirt to about 2/3 the size! It's basically a sleep/lay around the house shirt now...

The Wiltern is my home away from home, I see so many shows there. They don't oversell it and they cap the general admission pit on sold out shows, and the sound is very good. Plus, if you're willing to stand in line you can usually get way up close.

Obviously, in seated shows that doesn't apply as much - unless the performer tells everyone to get out of their seats and come on down (like Chris Cornell did on his "Euphoria Morning" show), but there isn't a bad seat in the house.

I saw Eddie Vedder, Beck, and Mike Ness play a benefit there a decade or so ago from the very last row of the balcony, and I was completely engrossed in the entire show - never once did I lament my bad seat.

Plus, there's a Taco Bell right on the way back to the 101, which I've used for Fourthmeal more times than I can count.
Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.

Eddie had a mohawk and joined Mike Ness later (with Mike, I think)... and Beck played some of "Loser" on piano.

It was a great show, and I almost didn't get a seat. Hammered the scalpers outside all night and finally got one after I gave up and started walking back to my car.

Looking for a ticket for Wiltern show. Please let me know if you can help out. This is for a friend of mine who will be leaving USA soon and won't be able to see her favorite band and her favorite FRONTMAN for at least next two years. I am trying to help her out to have one last stint before she leaves the States for an overseas job. And no where she's going, the possibility of Pearl Jam having a show is pretty much zero.
