phone at concert?
So I got another question. My confirmation email for the Boston show says no cameras, including camera phones. Does that mean if my cell has a lens I can not bring it in with me? Are they really going to enforce that?
I've been to many concerts that said no cameras, but you always see pictures and video being taken. I just don't remember the info specifically mentioning cell phones, so I'm curious.

You have to figure that only 10club members that received that email have heard about the cell phone issues. Everyone who bought tickets through the general on-sale will be having cell phones on them too. Just be careful.

It's venue specific on how strict they will be, but, people have been bounced for use of the cell phone at past EV shows.
But, if you keep it in your pocket and have it on vibrate (or off), you'll be 100% ok.
Just ... don't be this girl ...

However, the last Ed Vedder show I was at, the guy in front of me insisted on filming half of the show on his phone, and it was right in my line of view, I had to ask him to move it several times so I could see the stage.
The guy next to me kept taking his out and checking scores on ESPN.
And the girl next to me actually took hers out and made two calls.
Mind you, this was in an intimate theater. Not an outdoor venue (Not that either are acceptable)
All this going on while people would continue to scream crap while ed was talking and playing, so it got quite annoying.
I was kind if polite last time around. This time around, the first time I see a cell phone for more than 5 seconds, Im notifying security.
Its a concert, and an expensive one at that. Im not there to watch your cell phone.
If you have to check it to make sure junior ate his peas, go to the lobby, and dont disrupt everyone else around you. I have a kid, and thats MY responsibility, not everyone elses burden to bear.

Amazes me how many people watch other people !!
My thing is, I will be walking around Boston beforehand, and not to mention how chaotic a concert gets, I just wanted to make sure I won't get hasselled for having one on me. I don't plan on using it during the show, I am here for the experience.
But what's not ok with me is people yelling & screaming @ Ed while he is talking while going nuts in a small theater. Let the man on stage talk, sing & play for us. That's what we're all there for. To see Ed at work. Oh, about the phones, yes I agree, talking on them during the show is pretty annoying. Just text. If you don't know how to text, go outside of the room and talk there on the phone.

the last song your good take all you want .
And the woman behind me felt the need to sing along to all of Paul's quiet songs in the loudest, scratchiest, ugliest possible voice, not knowing all the lyrics. Thank god she left before he came out for the first and second encore breaks.
Holding cell-phones up the whole show is bad.
Holding I-Pad up the whole show is beyond description. I couldn't do anything but laugh.
Nope, I got the same policy for Santa Barbara.

Same policy for Portland.
Well, it's hard to watch a concert with a phone in your way half the night, and it's tough to listen when the person next to you is talking on the phone during a quiet song like "Society".
As for ESPN guy, in a dark concert theater his phone was pretty bright and right next to me. He was easier to ignore than the others, but seriously. Why would you pay 80+ per ticket to check scores?
Like I said, for the phone talkers and recorders, I'm just going to tell security right from the start. I've tried the diplomatic route and people don't respond to politeness anymore. They only respond to what will force them to stop.

Santa Barbara, ah, my first Vedder solo experience I did back in '08! Good times!
Will see you soon, just not this year, but soon!
I am going to take back half of the nasty things I have said about texas after that...simply awesome!
see you at the Beacon night 2
Ok got it. No cameras. It's not on my Ticketmaster confirmation or maybe I just missed it. Thanks for confirming!
What I really hate is the people who insist on yelling stupid requests at Ed the entire show. It gets old after about 2 seconds. I loved at the Chicago shows a few years ago when he told people to just not bother yelling out song requests, and that he knew how to write a setlist and didn't need any help from rookies.
These things really should be outlawed-
I swear, if anybody takes their iPad out in my section I'll smash it-
