Those of you in the USA/Australia he is heading your way soon, do check him out...I am sure you will leave a fan.

I love all his stuff, there was a mixed reaction to the last album as some thought it was over produced, so I would say start with Love, Ire and Song :D:D
Let me know what you think!

  • Just started listening to him mainly due to people talking about him on the Euro Tour thread. I like what I've heard so far and will be picking up the new album. As a Hold Steady fan I was interested to see how 'Hey Sapphire' would work with him and Franz and I really enjoyed it. Good stuff.

I've just downloaded a bootleg from his show in Minneapolis on 23 October from this site. It's one of the best audience recordings I've heard for any act outside of the jam band scene.

    Available in FLAC or mp3.

  • been enjoying frank turner for a couple of years now, great (fun) stuff.
  • Recently announced that he's doing some Canadian dates with Joel Plaskett this spring.

I can't wait to see Frank Turner play again, and I think Joel Plaskett's a good match for him. Should be some great shows.

I adore this man, looking forward to seeing him in Wembley though the best gigs of his I've seen - in a pub near where I work way back when, in a dingy club last year and at a local theatre/venue to me in 2009 I think.

I think the best shows of his that I've seen have probably been where he's been opening for someone, or not topping a bill, he was excellent opening for the Gaslight Anthem on their tour in spring 2009, and the following year in the Leftfield tent at Glastonbury before the lovely Thea Gilmore.

Bands/artists often seem to give much more to a support slot, I guess because they're trying to win over someone elses crowd. I've also seen him fail miserably as a support act, he lost all bar about 10 from 150 people watching him open for the Levellers a few years back. And now he's selling out Wembley, so I guess those 140 people will now be going "I saw him when...":lol:

I also have a ticket for Wembley, though it's looking unlikely I can go at the minute.

Saw him open for Social D and Lucero last spring. He was great. He came out later with Ben Nichols of Lucero and they did a bunch of songs together, which was awesome. Kind of shocked to hear he sold out Wembley, as I'm not so sure he has a "stadium" sound, but good for him.

It's "only" the Arena, where PJ played, holds about 12000. I didn't think he'd make the step up to theatres like Hammersmith Odeon (5500) but he did. He also further underlined his hardcore status by having ticker tape (confetti) cannons to fire out into the crowd at the end!
