Just ignore the Coldplay reference. I don't really see the similarity. It's not like they started after Coldplay or anything like that.
Cool. I downloaded Transatlanticism late last night and listened to the first two tracks. I really liked The New Year and the 2nd track, Lightness was okay. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of the album later

I'm still not a huge fan of Lightness.

The New Year is by far the best song about, you know, the New Year, I've ever heard.

Lightness is absolutely fantastic ... so haunting with that odd feedback in the backround throughout the song.

The first 4 songs on this album are probably their best work to date.

But if you like the songs that are more "rock" ... you'll probably like "We Looked Like Giants" of Transatlanticsm.

Yeah it's grown on me. Some subtle brilliance. Still don't love it though.

So, it's safe to assume that all their stuff isn't like Lightness? I could be wrong because I've only heard it once, but it seemed a little too poppy for my taste

    Lightness ... poppy?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJtqmdBL4js

Probably not the term I would use to describe it.

Transatlanticism is a heavy heavy album. not in a hard rock kind of way.

    it's beautiful though

Yes, the songs are very deep emotionally.

Title and Registration is extremely powerful. It takes a few listens before it really hits you.

All just amazing songs. The combo of What Sarah Said & Brothers on a Hotel Bed on Plans is absolutely stunning.

I don't know why I said Lightness had to grow on me - it had already grown on me like 2 years ago - I just forgot unti I listened to Transatlanticism again. 8-)

I got tickets for that show too thru the 104.5 presale. Didn't think I would have been able to pull 5 good tickets together, but ended up with RC Circle close to the center section. Should be a good show. They played a great show when I saw them at the Tower, so I am hoping it only gets better! Glad they are coming back around so soon after the Trocadero show, had no luck what so ever on those tickets.
