Getting mine today. Got a note that the mailman left yesterday when I was at work. I'm gonna go to the post office to get it today. Little excited to go through all the fun stuff.

quick note to Canadians: the money we're being charged (even though we already paid for shipping) by Canada Post is not the Ten Club's fault. It's the taxes/duty we have to pay for buying things out of the country.... sometimes small orders get through without this charge (I never get charged for the Ten Club T-shirts I've ordered) but a big box-set is not going to be missed by the taxman and/or customs. If re-read what Ten Club has on the page for the box set in the Goods section you'll see that we were told this would happen.

I saw a post where someone compares this tax/duty charge to being raped... that's beyond silly... yeah, being charged an extra thirty bucks for a box of records is the same as rape...

Pretty sure we all know this. Obviously getting dinged for duties and taxes isn't the 10C fault. The complaints i believe are mostly towards the distribution plan. Us Canadians end up having to pay $40 for shipping, wait 4-6 weeks to receive our package, and then get dinged another $25-50 in duties/taxes. Surely there has to be a better way.

I do agree with the complaints about how long the wait was for us Canadians (or everybody... i think some States are still waiting...). I'm not as angry as some people about it but it does seem that the whole point of pre-ordering something well in advance should mean you get it on the release date...
I just thought it was odd that people now seem so upset about the tax/duty charge...

You'd think Sony coulda handled Canada orders for cheaper, and maybe quicker too...I dunno, I think the costs were too high when coupled with the wait, but whatever, I've got it now so it's overwith.

Picked up my set at the post office...ended up getting dinged the $26.75. Not sure why some other Ontario residents are getting hit up for just under $50?

The set, of course, is beautiful.

Well I am waiting for my box set to arrive, but when I got the ten boxset 2 years ago on the Drop In The Park LP right at the end of porch where it really starts to climax in the song it skips quite a few times always did since it was first opened, so i dunno if it was a defect in the vinyl or just a bad copy I got.

Hmm I may be the only one. I'm gonna contact TC soon to see what my options are.

Hmmm...got my box here in the Toronto, ON area on Monday, picked it up yesterday. I had to pay the $26.75 duty charge.

I came home today to find this in my email from tenclub

hi,
Long story short, you will be issued a refund check by DHL for overpayment of DUTY/VAT for your Vs and Vitalogy Super Deluxe Box Set.

This charge was NOT a broker fee or shipping COD.

We sent an electronic file to DHL Global Mail with the value of the SDX box set of $150.00 USD. Apparently, due to a software glitch, the value of the box set was set to $300.00....so the DUTY/VAT tax payment was approximately double what should have been paid...We've just been notified in the last 30 min, so we don't have all the details yet, but we wanted to let you know that this issue is being dealt with now.

DHL Global Mail has been great to work with, and their attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

We are very sorry for this inconvenience, and hope you are enjoying your Vs and Vitalogy Super Deluxe Box Set. Any questions should be directed to shipping@tenclub.net

Apparently the original Vs. and Vitalogy mastering jobs sound noticeably better than the new 20th anniversary editions...

I did a short vinyl comparison tonight of the VS album. I compared an original US press, original Holland press, and the recently released remaster from the super deluxe box set. While I found it difficult to discern any major difference between the original U.S. and Holland presses, the recent remaster was noticeably different, and not in a good way. The album has been a bit compressed and the dynamic range has been squished. It is not as bad some other PJ albums, like the Ten remaster or the Avocado album, but it is noticeable. The punch of the drums and the clarity of the instruments that are present on the original press are not there to the same extent on the remaster. You can especially notice it on the drum intro to Glorified G. On the original press it sounds like you're sitting in front of the kit and the drums have a real punch to them. On the remaster, the punch and clarity of the drums have been replaced by more of a dull thud. Again, it's not the worst remaster job I've ever heard, but if you're looking to get a copy of this album on vinyl, I would go for an original U.S. copy.

Not to mention the exlusion of Malice Green.

• If this is the case glad I've got the original pressings of these albums, regarding Ten, I can't see myself ever wanting to listen to the original mix by Parasher again, I much prefer Obrien's redux and thought it sounded much better, if it's compressed as they say so be it but it still sounded better than the original to me.

I have shelled out on both Vs & Vitalogy so I'll find out when they arrive, I've got a great love for vinyl but I don't have the money to shell out on top equipment I have a Rega Planar 3 with a cambridge pre amp and an Onkyo amp powered through a set of free standing mission speakers. My point is I'm unlikely to spot these things these guys are pointing out but I'm happy to be ignorant as I'm happy for the most times when some of these audiophiles are constantly nit picking.

Although if they are as notably bad as they say I do have to ask PJ why they don't get this done properly, Pink Floyd's most recent vinyl remaster of DSOM is reputably the best it's ever sounded on vinyl (although this has been disputed by some) why can't PJ who expect us to shell out on these new vinyl reissues give us the same treatement, I buy these vinyl's expecting an improvement on the originals not an inferior shiny new verison to leave sealed gathering dust, can anyone here say if what is said on these forums is what they found playing their new version please?

P.S Those woundering what MOV pressing of Satchel's The Family is like it's gets the thumbs up from me, I've been rather impressed with both Into The Wild & The Judgement Night OST I've had from these guys though I've no doubt Steve Hoffman and co will have problems.

well, analog addict, I prefer the parasher mix. Way more than BOB´s. I loved it when I first heard it and love it more now.

See I don´t get it when they say they did not like the way it was mixed back then. Listen to the drop in the park show. The voice effects are there, too. The guitars sound almost the same.

Compare it to the sound of the later shows, and you can tell the difference.

Sure, they disliked that sound afterwards and god bless them for that. Vs sounds completely different and that took balls to do that.

To me it´s like if Hendrix, after his success, would have re-recorded his voice in his first albums. He always said he disliked his singing. Believe it or not. Well he could have taken singing classes and then re-recorded the whole thing. The same thing but with "better" voice. As he would have liked them in the first place.

Pearl Jam is entitled to it. It is theirs to do what they want. BOB knew what he was getting into. Wich is why he gave his respects to parasher (in the promotional ten redux video).

But it is a matter of taste. To each their own.

You are talking about the super deluxe. I want to know about the deluxe 3 CD pack that the 10C shipped. Sad to say that Sony did not have shipping to Israel for the super deluxe so I ordered the Deluxe (along with the Tres Mts CD) from the 10C. Waiting for it to arrive.
