    The only thing I agree with McGuinty about is yes there should be a debate...as I've had my own family doctor tell me, and a specialist tell me recently could take every tax $$$$ available and still not have enough money. The system is what it is!!! If you're suffering from a life threatening disease you'll get timely treatment, or at least I hope, if you're suffering from pain that requires elective surgery, you'll just have to wait your turn.

    I love the fact that so many people will say they don't want 2 tier health care...folks we already got 2 tier health care...people who can afford it already go to the states for treatment...people who have better financial means see chiropractors, get physiotherapy treatment, seek naturopathic doctors, see optometrist more often can seek help podiatrist and so on, so 2 tier is here...some people are just in denial.

    uhhh ... i couldn't stomach this guy's op-ed ... i mean its pretty obvious he hates the liberals and is definitely firmly on the right and hates everything left ... he doesn't even try to show any objectivity ...

    mcguinty was on radio 1 last sunday talking about health care ... he didn't say anything too crazy ... why he feels the need to get involved when he's got his own issues coming up is mind boggling to me ...

    having said that - this kelly copeland is just another guy with the forum to show one-sided pieces without consequence ... that's what op-eds allow ...

    Oh well...people can take what ever side they want, he is premier been premier for 8 years, it's his responsibility, if he can't handle the responsibility he should step down. 2 tier health care is here has been here for a long time.

    McGuinty's an embarrassment to Ontario he whines more than Quebec...and they play partisan politics as much as anyone. Closing a jail built in 1960's in Sarnia so they can built a new one in Windsor which just happens to be where 2 high ranking cabinet ministers are.

    The other question is, is all the NDP gained support in Quebec, because if it is that will not translate into more seats, probably means they are running second to the bloc.

    I still think it depends on NFLD 3 seats, BC, keeping Alberta and Ontario and holding his own seats. To many variables still.

    In some ways though, the tories must be feeling blessed, every scandal thrown their way and their not far off a majority, if they run a clean campaign over the next 2 weeks, they could increase their seat total or get a majority. The 1 question I have is if they get within 2 -3 seats of a majority are their going to be MP's from other parties willing to cross the floor? especially if you are an older MP who was planning on retiring soon anyways...it would guarantee you 4 more years of pension contributions...something to think about, because I'm sure Harper is and I'm sure Harper has specific MP's in mind.

    harper needs a breakthrough in quebec ... the fact that layton is polling higher in quebec may actually help the conservatives as there now might be some vote-splitting in some key ridings ...

    i would be very shocked dryden would switch sides ... i can see him feeling like the house is a joke ... which it is ... and i put that firmly on the feet of harper ... his disdain for democracy, secrecy and underhandedness is pitiful ... it probably wasn't great before but now - it's a farce ...

    First of all the money being spent by the conservatives on the 3 major projects are absolutely needed...2 of the projects were underpass's for cars so they would not be delayed by trains that are entering the states...the americans now ex-ray trains entering the states, without those underpass's cars would be stopped for who knows how long and the 3rd major project is the new bridge, which is needed. This is the busiest border between Canada and the US and we only have 2 crossings, a 70+ years old tunnel and 90+ year old bridge.

    Just 2 show people McGuinty's incompetence, the province is going ahead with the new highway (billion $$$) for the new crossing, even though Michigan has not approved the bridge yet. The Michigan governor hopes to bring it to a vote sometime this month or next. What's the province going to do if Michigan votes no, they've already spent millions on the project and awarded the contract to build it, and a yes vote in Michigan is no guarantee...the last governor spent a lot of time on the project and could not get it approved.

    Could end up being a billion $$$ highway to the Detroit River.

    Not Dryden switching sides, but I'm sure there are some blue liberals close to retirement and this would be a way to guarantee 4 more years into their pension...

    either way - i don't like mcguinty so ... it's not really an issue - i just don't see how this guy is relevant in a federal election ... we'll have our provincial election soon enuf ... you can unload then ...

    I don't think I ever said we need federal jails. It the way Sarnia was blind sided is what I didn't like, no warning, no nothing...it was partisan politics.

    But you are right, as soon as the federal election is over we'll be bombarded with the provincial election. The only thing I can figure out is he's trying to deflect blame onto the federal politicians. Correct me if I'm wrong, is the federal government honouring the health accord signed in 2004? If they are, then I don't really see an issue, if the provinces are unhappy them they shouldn't have signed or signed on for so long.

    i think you are taking in too much from this op-ed piece where this guy adds his own biases ... all mcguinty is saying is that health care should be an issue because provincial budgets are spending more and more on health care than ever before ... i don't think he's said the current accord is bad ... just simply, it expires in 2014 and he doesn't want to negotiate last minute like last time and that they should take a comprehensive approach to it ... what's so bad about that?
